  • Publication number: 20010040384
Abstract: Several variations of a new and improved sun visor for use within a motor vehicle are disclosed, with the visors coming in different sizes to fit all types of vehicles, such as automobiles, vans, trucks, boats, trains, and planes. The variations would comprise three different types of visors. The first variation of visor would replace the standard sun visor that is located at the top of a standard windshield immediately above an operator's line of sight while operating a particular vehicle. The second variation of visor would serve as a “clamp on” visor which would be removably attached to a standard car visor that would be present in a vehicle. The third type of visor would be used to cover a side window of a particular vehicle. The third variation of visor would use either clamps to serve as a “clamp on” visor or alternatively would have a pair of suction cups to removably attach the third type of visor to a particular side window.

  • Patent number: 5427197
Abstract: A pruning vehicle having characteristics specifically utilizable in an orchard having rows of trees opposite each other. The vehicle is equipped with two platforms side by side which can be adjustably located vertically and horizontally in a plane perpendicular to the direction of the vehicle's motion. Each platform is controllable by an operator standing upon the platform through foot pedals incorporated thereon. Platforms are elevated above the vehicle by lifting structures designed to keep the platforms level to the ground at all times. The platforms are connected to a frame of the vehicle at a low slung central portion of the frame for added stability. Wheels of the vehicle are of a thin disc shape. Each wheel can slice through soft surfaces such as mud to attain a firm foundation for the pruning vehicle. Fins and teeth on the wheels provide added traction. Mud deflectors on the wheels prohibit mud from climbing up too high onto or bogging down the pruning vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5291514
Abstract: A method and apparatus for automatically and dynamically tuning individual heater segments of a multi-zone furnace which allows simultaneous minimization of temperature gradients within the furnace and prevention of premature aging and failure of the segments by controlling the relative temperatures thereof and equalization of the contributions of the segments to the heating of the furnace. Furnace and heater temperatures are monitored and furnace temperatures are used to develop set point biases for automatic control of heater segment temperatures. Some segments are also controlled as a function of power applied to other segments. Temperatures sensed within the furnace are combined such as by averaging to effectively provide virtual sensors in locations where sensors cannot otherwise be practically provided.
