  • Publication number: 20240098504
Abstract: A system described herein may identify traffic associated with a User Equipment (“UE”) that is connected to a first network. The UE may maintain a plurality of UE identities via one or more SIM (“Subscriber Identification Module”) cards, Universal Integrated Circuit Cards (“UICCs”), etc. The system may determine, based on one or more policies, that the traffic is not authorized via the first network. In some situations, the traffic may not be authorized if the first network does not support a type, service, etc. of the traffic. The system may identify a second network, based on the one or more policies, via which the traffic is authorized, and may indicate the second network to the UE. The UE may automatically (e.g., without user intervention) switch to a particular UE identity that is associated with the second network, and may output the traffic via the second network using such UE identity.

  • Publication number: 20240089208
Abstract: A system described herein may provide for an interface, such as a midhaul interface, between one or more radio elements of a radio access network (“RAN”), such as a Distributed Unit (“DU”) and/or a radio unit (“RU”), and higher layer functions of the RAN, such a Central Unit (“CU”). The interface may provide for the DU to be communicatively coupled to multiple CUs, which may be associated with multiple distinct core networks. The system may route uplink traffic, received from User Equipment (“UEs”) via the RU and the DU, to an appropriate CU. The system may resolve conflicting instructions, for the DU, received from different CUs. The resolution may be performed based on relative priority levels of the CUs or other factors. The system may provide for granular monitoring of traffic parameters on a per-CU basis, thus preserving the privacy of different core networks.

  • Publication number: 20240089794
Abstract: A system described herein may serve as an interface between one or more radio units (“RUs”) of a wireless network and one or more Distributed Units (“DUs”) of the RAN. The system may maintain information associating a set of RUs with a particular DU. The system may determine that a particular RU of the set of RUs should be disassociated from the particular DU, such as based on load metrics associated with the particular DU exceeding one or more thresholds. The system may disassociate the particular RU from the particular DU by modifying the information associating the set of RUs with the particular DU. The modified may indicate that the particular RU is no longer associated with the particular DU. The system may accordingly facilitate communications between the modified set of RUs, not including the particular RU, and the particular DU.

  • Publication number: 20240064563
Abstract: A system described herein may identify sets of seed parameters that are each associated with a respective User Equipment (“UE”) of a group of UEs. The system may generate, based on the seed parameters for each UE, a respective set of UE usage metrics for each UE, and may generate a set of aggregate UE usage metrics based on the generated sets of UE usage metrics. The system may compare the aggregate UE usage metrics to a measure of network capacity; determine an amount of time that a measure of UE usage exceeds the measure of network capacity; determine that the amount of time, that the measure of UE usage exceeds the measure of network capacity, exceeds a threshold amount of time; and modify network configuration parameters based on determining that the amount of time, that UE usage exceeds the network capacity, exceeds the threshold amount of time.

  • Publication number: 20240015730
Abstract: In some implementations, a user equipment (UE) may determine that the UE is operating in a time division duplex (TDD) boundary region in which the UE receives or measures signals from two or more cells or other UEs. The UE may determine that a first TDD slot pattern associated with at least one of a first cell or a first other UE differs from a second TDD slot pattern associated with at least one of a second cell or a second other UE. The UE may determine a boundary region TDD slot pattern to be used for communications within the TDD boundary region based on at least one of the first TDD slot pattern or the second TDD slot pattern. The UE may communicate with a network device using the boundary region TDD slot pattern.

  • Publication number: 20240014994
Abstract: In some implementations, a network device may determine that a user equipment (UE) is operating in coverage of a boundary cell associated with overlapping coverage provided by a first cell and a second cell. The network device may determine that a first time division duplex (TDD) slot pattern associated with the first cell differs from a second TDD slot pattern associated with the second cell. The network device may determine a boundary region TDD slot pattern to be used for communications with the UE within the coverage of the boundary cell based on at least one of the first TDD slot pattern or the second TDD slot pattern. The network device may communicate with the UE using the boundary region TDD slot pattern.

  • Patent number: 10033820
Abstract: In a method and system for opportunistic delivery of less-than-best-effort application data, a WIN network identified the elements of the wireless network servicing a specified mobile client. One or more elements of the wireless network servicing the specified mobile client monitor the connection state of a mobile client and notify the WIN network of connection state changes so that a chatty application running on an external application server may be notified by the WIN network to deliver packet data when the specified mobile client is connected to the network for some other purpose or when unused network resources are available. In this way, network resource overload caused by chatty applications is reduced.

  • Patent number: 8285289
Abstract: A method for inter-RAT idle handoff is provided by transmitting a handoff initiation signal from a cell associated with a carrier for a first Radio Access Technology (RAT) area, the cell being located in an overlap coverage area with a second RAT area and adjacent to the second RAT area. Spatial hysteresis is provided by the new triggering method to eliminate the ping-pong issue when a mobile move along the border area. The invention also reduces network resource consumption due to ping-ponging.

  • Patent number: 7437165
Abstract: A method of wireless communication. The method includes the step of broadcasting a message, such as channel list message, for example. The broadcasting message lists each available carrier for each available frequency band in the wireless communication spectrum—e.g., 400 MHz and about 2100 MHz. Each available carrier listed within the message may correspond with at least one cell of a coverage area. Moreover, each broadcast message comprises at least one occurrence for each available carrier. Each available carrier may also be repeated within the message a number of times corresponding to a carrier weighting. This carrier weighting in turn corresponds with a traffic load. Alternatively, the method may also include the step of repeating the broadcast of the message a number of times, wherein the number corresponds to a carrier weighting associated with the traffic load. The broadcast message may also comprise a listing of at least one service, such as voice and/or data, supported by each available carrier.

  • Patent number: 7352717
Abstract: A method for performing network control in wireless communication systems and a network entity for performing the same. The method and network entity pool at least one network parameter at the network entity, from at least two active set base transceiver stations and determine a current status of a mobile in the wireless communication system, using the pooled network parameters. The active set base transceiver stations may include a serving base transceiver station and a target base transceiver station. The network parameter may be a confidence metric and/or an error metric for each of a plurality of hypotheses, a power up/power down signal, and/or a measured signal-to-noise ratio and/or energy parameter of a pilot signal from the mobile. The current status of the mobile to be determined may be the mobile's decision to switch to the target base transceiver station transceiver or which base transceiver station transceiver the mobile is currently communication with.

  • Patent number: 6970447
Abstract: Multiple carriers are used to provide access to a wireless communication system. A first carrier transmits synchronization messages in accordance with the IS-95B standard (communication protocol revision 5). The synchronization message directs mobiles attempting to access the network to a paging channel on the first carrier. The paging channel enables mobiles conforming to a standard of IS-2000 revision 0 or older to access the wireless network. The paging channel also includes an extended global service redirection message (EGSRM) that instructs mobiles conforming to the IS-2000 revision A standard (communication protocol revision 7) to use a synchronization channel on a second carrier for reception of an IS-2000 revision A synchronization message. The IS-2000 revision A (communication protocol revision 7) synchronization message instructs the mobile to access the wireless communication network using a BCCH and/or FCCCH on the second carrier, or using a BCCH and/or FCCCH on the first carrier.
