  • Publication number: 20220341367
Abstract: New and/or alternative approaches to physical plant performance control that can account for the health of the physical plant. A physical plant may be controlled by configurable controller, which may further comprise a low level controller associated with a higher level controller such as an Engine Control Unit (ECU). The ECU uses modeling to calculate an estimated operating value of a first parameter in the physical plant, and also uses a sensor to measure an operating value of the first parameter. The measured and modeled values are compared to determine the state of health (SOH) of the physical plant or a component thereof. The SOH may be stored, transmitted, or used to modify one or more control values used by the low level controller.

  • Publication number: 20220341698
Abstract: A repeating crossbow having a pump-action reloading mechanism. The crossbow includes an elongated body with a shooting track and a holding chamber configured to house one or more projectiles. A hatch is coupled to the body and configured to move between a first position aligned with the shooting track and a second position at least partially aligned with the holding chamber. A palm rest is slidingly connected to the elongated body. Sliding the palm rest in a rearward direction causes the hatch to move from the first position into the second position. A biasing member within the holding chamber ejects a projectile onto the hatch. Sliding the palm rest in a forward direction to return to its default position causes the hatch to return to its first position, bringing the proj ectile into alignment with the shooting track.

  • Publication number: 20220340288
Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus and method for operating a gliding parachute/kite. The gliding parachute/kite has a wing with a flexible material, and a set of suspension lines adapted for coupling a load to the wing, such that the coupling is configurable in any one of a plurality of possible states based on relative lengths of the suspension lines. In some implementations, the possible states include a first state enabling gliding in a first direction, and a second state enabling gliding in a second direction that is opposite to the first direction. Reversing direction is possible with the first and second states. Additionally, or alternatively, the possible states include a spinning state enabling spinning of the gliding parachute/kite. Adjusting a rate of decent is possible with the spinning. Reversing direction and/or spinning operations can be used to improve control of trajectory.
