Abstract: Systems and methods for gesture-based control are described. In some embodiments, a system may include a device configured to be worn at a person's wrist. The wearable device may include a biopotential sensor, a wrist location sensor, and a wireless transmitter. The system may have a first state and a second state. In the first state, the system may be configured to classify first data based on an output from the wrist location sensor to detect a wake word gesture. In the second state, the system may be configured to classify second data to detect a second gesture, the second data being based on both wrist location data and biopotential data. The system may be configured to transition from the first state to the second state based, at least in part, on a detection of the wake word gesture.

Abstract: Methods for selectively depositing silicon oxycarbide (SiOC) thin films on a dielectric surface of a substrate relative to a metal surface without generating significant overhangs of SiOC on the metal surface are provided. The methods can include at least one plasma enhanced atomic layer deposition (PEALD) cycle including alternately and sequentially contacting the substrate with a silicon precursor, a first Ar and H2 plasma, a second Ar plasma and an etchant.

Abstract: Apparatus and method configured to determine locations of man-made objects within synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery. The apparatus and method prescreen SAR imagery to identify potential locations of man-made objects within SAR imagery. The potential locations are processed using a change detector to remove locations of natural objects to produce a target image containing location of substantially only man-made objects.

Abstract: In at least one embodiment, a system for assessing biometric information for an occupant in a vehicle is provided. The system includes a plurality of sensors and a controller. The plurality of sensors is positioned about a main cabin of the vehicle and being configured to provide the biometric information for the occupant in response to a stimulus and to transmit a first signal indicative of the biometric information. The controller is positioned in the vehicle and is configured to activate the stimulus in the vehicle and to receive the biometric information after the stimulus has been activated. The controller is further configured to transmit the biometric information to at least one of another controller in the vehicle or to a server that is remote from the vehicle to assess the biometric information to determine the effect of the stimulus on the occupant.

Abstract: A method and system for predicting a state of a cell (11) in a radio access network are described herein. The method comprises obtaining (S210) information of the cell (11), determining (S220) one or more sets of conditions based on the information and predicting (S230) that the cell (11) will enter a sleeping state when at least one set of the one or more sets of conditions is fulfilled. The method further comprises outputting (S240) an action to prevent the cell (11) from entering the sleeping state based on the probability and a number of wireless devices currently connected to the cell (11).

Abstract: A hockey skate includes a fiber-reinforced, composite frame, or an injected plastic frame, including a boot form and integral pedestals that serve as a blade-holder. The pedestals are integral with the bottom of the boot sole and are optionally spaced relatively far apart to provide a long span between them. An optional bridge assembly may be used to connect the blade to the pedestals. The bridge assembly may provide increased stiffness and vibration damping, as well as customized fit options.

Abstract: A sensor for passively measuring a maximum temperature within a nuclear reactor comprises a substrate, and a plurality of melt wires within a cavity defined within the substrate, at least one melt wire of the plurality of melt wires exhibiting a variable melting temperature along a length of the at least one melt wire. Related sensors and methods of forming the sensors are also disclosed.

Abstract: The present teaching relates to medical suggestion searching. In one example, data related to a medication drug are obtained. One or more candidate prescription strings are identified from the obtained data. Each of the candidate prescription strings is associated with a plurality of attributes. Each of the one or more candidate prescription strings is automatically processed based on at least one model to generate one or more prescription strings each with an associated ranking. At least some of the generated one or more prescription strings and the associated rankings are stored for future use.

A compliance component may be utilized to receive user input data indicating supply contracts between a client and a vendor. The user input data may be utilized to determine insurable obligations associated with the supply contract and provide indications as to whether or not the vendor is compliant with the insurable obligation required by the supply contract. An exposure assessment component may be utilized to determine an exposure score associated with a client account and/or a vendor account based on various compliance factors, spending amounts, and/or properties associated with at least one of goods and/or services that a vendor will supply to a client.

Abstract: Herein disclosed are systems and methods for distributing fractional equity rewards to users of a loyalty platform based on tracked user loyalty purchases. The disclosed systems and methods may reduce time between a user loyalty purchase and distribution of a fractional equity reward determined based on the user loyalty purchase. In one example, by maintaining a pre-purchased supply of shares within an inventory account of the loyalty platform, and by distributing fractional equity rewards to user accounts on the loyalty platform from the pre-purchased supply, a reduction in reward distribution time may be enabled. Further, by maintaining the pre-purchased supply of shares of stock within the inventory based on a running average rate of fractional equity reward distribution, and predicted events, the amount of stock in the inventory may be intelligently controlled to reduce excess inventory, while reducing a probability of reward distribution delay.
