  • Patent number: 10261037
Abstract: A structure to be monitored for damage and a method of monitoring the structure for damage are provided. The structure has a coating thereon, the coating defining a surface having characteristics which vary in a predetermined manner with damage to the structure. The surface has a series of conductive tracks applied thereto and in intimate contact therewith such that the said predetermined variation of the surface characteristics will vary the resistance of the series of conductive tracks in a predetermined manner in order to determine both location and extent of damage.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 2, 2015
Date of Patent: April 16, 2019
    Assignee: BAE Systems plc
Inventors: Jagjit Sidhu, Amir Rezai, David Andrew Cocksedge
  • Patent number: 10168515
Abstract: The following invention relates to an optical device for use in a system that requires optical zoom or focus abilities, particularly for providing pre-set zoom parameters with a very low energy requirement. There is provided an optical magnification device comprising at least one pair of optically aligned deformable reflectors, wherein each reflector pair has at least two configurations, wherein selection of a first and a second configuration of said deformable reflector pairs provides pre-defined magnification states, such that in any configuration one reflector is substantially concave and the other is substantially convex; at least one controller may cause both the reflectors to move between said at least two configurations.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 5, 2015
Date of Patent: January 1, 2019
    Assignee: BAE Systems PLC
Inventors: Michael Stewart Griffith, David Andrew Cocksedge, Leslie Charles Laycock

  • Patent number: 9454005
Abstract: The following invention relates to an improved lens apparatus for use in a head up display (HUD), particularly for providing a deployment means for a HUD. The deployment device comprises a servomotor and cord assembly to move the carrier, wherein the carrier is biased, such that the first action is to deploy the lens, and then cause subsequent movement of the lens through an arc.
