Abstract: An optical emitter assembly is described in which one or more optical devices each having an emitting aperture at a surface thereof can be mounted on a carrier such that the plane of the emitting apertures with respect to a well defined reference plane can be precisely controlled. This enables additional optical elements to be precisely axially and laterally positioned with respect to the centre of the emitting apertures, even when there are plural optical devices of differing thicknesses.
