Publication number: 20250001088Abstract: A therapeutic agent delivery device includes a syringe assembly having a plunger, a drive mechanism, and a shuttle system coupled to a syringe of the syringe assembly. The drive mechanism includes a motor and a lead screw to engage the plunger, and a controller configured to facilitate movement of the shuttle system distally relative to the syringe assembly and movement of the syringe distally to extend a needle from the therapeutic agent delivery device. The lead screw can drive the plunger for drug delivery. Rotation of the lead screw after the plunger is driven can facilitate retraction of the lead screw from the plunger and facilitate movement of the shuttle system proximally and the syringe proximally relative to the syringe assembly. The drive mechanism and the shuttle system may be an integrated assembly.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 31, 2023Publication date: January 2, 2025Inventors: David Arthur HOLLEY, Michael Lewis MARSHALL

Publication number: 20250001089Abstract: A therapeutic agent delivery device includes a disposable portion and a reusable portion that detachably carries the disposable portion. The reusable portion includes a drive mechanism. The drive mechanism thereby translates a syringe assembly of the disposable portion from a stowed configuration to a deployed configuration. A user input actuates the drive mechanism. The user input includes a first configuration and a second configuration prior to actuation. In the first configuration, the drive mechanism is inhibiting actuation of the user input, and in the second configuration the drive mechanism is permitting actuation of the user input. A method of moving a user input of a therapeutic agent delivery device is also described, including sensing aspects of the device prior to allowing the user input to be actuatable.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 19, 2022Publication date: January 2, 2025Inventors: David Arthur HOLLEY, Michael Lewis MARSHALL

Publication number: 20240374832Abstract: A therapeutic agent delivery device includes a disposable portion and a reusable portion that detachably carries the disposable portion. The reusable portion includes a drive mechanism having a guide, a rotary actuator, and a follower drivably coupled to the rotary actuator and movably coupled to the guide. The rotary actuator is actuatable to rotatably drive the follower, and the follower thereby follows the guide and translates the drive mechanism. The drive mechanism thereby translates a syringe assembly of the disposable portion from a stowed configuration to a deployed configuration.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 19, 2022Publication date: November 14, 2024Inventors: William Godwin ATTERBURY, John Edward BARTHOLOMEW, Scott Nicholas DANHOF, David Arthur HOLLEY, Michael Lewis MARSHALL, Michael Scott ULRICH, Joseph Edward ZAMBANINI

Patent number: 12133972Abstract: A therapeutic agent delivery system (10) includes a housing (16) and a drive wheel (38) rotatably carried by the housing. A plunger rod (50) may be rotatable with the drive wheel relative to the housing from a first rotational configuration to a second rotational configuration. The plunger rod may be translatable relative to the housing from a first translational configuration to a second translational configuration. A plunger restraint (58) may maintain the plunger rod in the first translational configuration when the plunger rod is disposed in the first rotational configuration. The plunger restraint may permit the plunger rod to translate to the second translational configuration when the plunger rod is disposed in the second rotational configuration. A needle may move from a stowed configuration to a deployed configuration by the plunger rod when the plunger rod moves from the first translational configuration to the second translational configuration.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 2019Date of Patent: November 5, 2024Assignee: Eli Lilly and CompanyInventors: William Godwin Atterbury, Corrie Jo Bennison, Jeffrey Richard Held, David Arthur Holley, Noah John Scott Lemire, Beverly Anne Piatt, John Paul Tallarico

Publication number: 20240198002Abstract: Processes and devices provide parenteral delivery of therapeutic fluids, in particular high-viscosity therapeutic fluids (e.g., protein therapeutics), by a chemical reaction that generates a gas. A device may include a first actuation chamber containing a first reagent, a second reaction chamber containing a second reagent, and a third therapeutic fluid chamber containing the therapeutic fluid. In a loaded configuration, a plunger separates the first chamber from the second chamber. In a delivery configuration, the plunger allows the first reagent from the first chamber to communicate and react with the second reagent from the second chamber. The generated gas acts upon a plunger to deliver the therapeutic fluid from the third chamber.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 28, 2024Publication date: June 20, 2024Inventors: William Godwin ATTERBURY, Corrie Jo BENNISON, Robert Jonathan CAIN, Michael Funk CHIAPPETTA, Jeffrey LeClair ELLIS, David Arthur HOLLEY, Mark LAFEVER, Beverly Ann PIATT, John Paul TALLARICO
