  • Publication number: 20240153725
Abstract: A system and method for point on wave closing of a switching device, where the close initiation point is selected so that a minor current loop is generated that minimizes the accumulated current during the closing operation. The method includes determining bounce characteristic of contacts in the switching device during the closing operation, identifying available close initiation points on a voltage wave for a voltage across the contacts, selecting one or two of the close initiation points on the voltage wave that minimizes the accumulation of current during the closing operation, and closing the switching device using the selected close initiation point.

  • Publication number: 20240118318
Abstract: A system and method for determining an open or closed position of a magnetically actuated vacuum interrupter. The method includes applying a voltage signal of a known voltage to the actuator over a predetermined period and determining a change in current over time during the period when the voltage signal is applied to the actuator using an output of a Rogowski coil. The method also includes calculating the inductance using the voltage and the change in current over time at a predetermined time during the period and using the calculated inductance to determine whether the actuator and thus the vacuum interrupter are in the open or closed position.

  • Patent number: 11656589
Abstract: Various embodiments of the present technology generally relate to power topology discovery in industrial environments. More specifically, some embodiments relate to automatic power topology discovery for factories based on device data that is already recorded for other purposes. Systems and methods described herein may be used to generate an accurate electrical network topology by collecting power data from power devices that may provide real-time or recorded measurements, detecting power change events, and matching power change signatures over power events for the devices in order to calculate the likelihoods of possible topology assumptions. Power change event data is used to recursively update topology probabilities using the Bayesian formula until a system topology can be produced with satisfactory confidence.

  • Patent number: 11114842
Abstract: A component includes first and second switches in series and connected between a power source and a coil of contacts of a safety relay. A first controller controls the first switch with a close signal that closes the first switch or a first PWM signal that opens and closes the first switch on each PWM cycle. A second controller controls the second switch with a close signal that closes the second switch or a second PWM signal that opens and closes the second switch on each PWM cycle. A PWM sensing circuit connected to the coil sends a sensed PWM signal to an input of the first and second controllers. The first controller sends the first PWM signal while the second controller sends a close signal and vice-versa. The controllers verify that the received PWM signal matches the sent PWM signal.

  • Patent number: 10747508
Abstract: For function block framework generation, a method generates a function block framework for a hardware device. The function block framework includes function block framework source code and a function block framework description. The hardware device includes a logic engine and automation hardware. The function block framework presents a standard interface to a function block core executed by the logic engine. The method instantiates the function block framework and the function block core as an executable image for the hardware device. The method further configures the logic engine to execute the executable image using the function block framework description. The method executes the executable image with the logic engine.
