  • Patent number: 5566227
Abstract: A cellular or non cellular radiotelephone system consisting of a plurality of base station radios at one or more radio base station sites including method of connection of such base station radios to the Mobile Switching Center by the use of standard public telephone circuits whereby connections on these public telephone circuits are established only when required to provide communications to a mobile subscriber served by the radio base station.

  • Patent number: 5548816
Abstract: A method and system for identifying the location of mobile units within a cellular telephone system. A subset of cells is dynamically assigned to a mobile unit based upon the cell location of the mobile unit at the time of registration. The mobile unit records the subset information, and as long as the mobile unit remains in one of the cells in the subset, it does not re-register its location with the system. The system is able to locate the mobile unit within the assigned subset of cells. When the mobile unit enters a new cell that is not within the subset of cells, it re-registers with the system which then assigns a new subset of cells corresponding to its location within a new cell that did not belong to the previous subset.

  • Patent number: 4698839
Abstract: A mobile telephone switching office for switching telephone calls among landline subscribers and mobile subscribers, the office controlling the call origination, termination and release of call from both the landline and the mobile subscribers, and providing a separation between the elements associated with each function for regulatory purposes. The mobile telephone switching office includes a time slot interchange mobile switch network for switching voice information among landline and mobile subscribers. A call control processor controls the switch network. Calls with a mobile subscriber are controlled by the cell site through a serving area controller, which transfers control messages between one or more cell sites to which it is connected and the call control processor. The serving area controller maintains records of the mobile voice channels available through the cell sites connected to it and the mobile calls taking place at any given time.

  • Patent number: 4523308
Abstract: A line switch including a concentrator arrangement for coupling telephone calls between a plurality of subscriber lines and a plurality of port group highways to a central office switching network in a telephony system. The analog voice signals are first digitized and multiplexed into time slot channels on line group highways for transfer to the concentrator arrangement. The concentrator arrangement couples the digitized voice information signals between time slot channels on any of the line group highways and any of the port group highways. The line switch includes control circuitry that selects the time slot channel, line group highway and port group highway to couple the digitized voice information signals between the subscriber line and the central office matrix switch through the concentrator.
