  • Patent number: 5280835
Abstract: A package which comprises a hazardous chemical dissolved or dispersed in a liquid or gel contained in a water soluble or water dispersible laminated film. The laminated film construction provides improved resistance to puncture or breakage thereby providing an improved containerization system for toxic or hazardous products.

  • Patent number: 5224601
Abstract: A package containing a pesticidal composition which package comprises a first sheet of non-planar water soluble or water dispersible material defining a concavity enclosing the pesticidal composition, a second sheet of water soluble or water dispersible material sealed to the first sheet by a continuous closed water soluble or water dispersible heat seal, and a third sheet between the first and second sheets and sealed thereto by a water soluble or water dispersible seal to divide the package into two compartments. A process for making the package.

  • Patent number: 5224219
Abstract: A welder's helmet having a face-protective shell adapted for wearing over the face of a welder during welding operations, the shell having a front wall provided with a sight opening therethrough and rearwardly extending walls including top, bottom, and side walls, peripheral to the front wall for enclosing the face of a welder is provided. The helmet features a retractable carrier frame for a light-filtering lens normally in a position framing the sight opening and movable upwardly and backwardly to a position substantially coplanar with and substantially entirely within the area of the top wall of the face protective shell of the helmet and vice versa, guide means for the aforesaid movement of the carrier frame, and actuator means enabling a welder wearing the helmet to carry out the movement of the carrier frame. Also provided is an easily replaceable protective cover lens.

  • Patent number: 5035239
Abstract: A powered respirator is provided with a device sensitive to the pressure within the respirator in the region of the user's face and adapted to sound a warning in the event that the sensed pressure goes below a selected threshold value. The device includes a flexible diaphragm exposed on its opposite sides to the sensed and atmospheric pressures respectively, and an infra red emitter and receiver arranged so that the level of energy received by the receiver from the emitter depends upon the flexural position of the diaphragm. In different embodiments the diaphragm may be arranged to reflect the radiation from the emitter onto the receiver or not, or to interrupt a beam of radiation from the emitter to the receiver or not, depending on the pressure differential across it. In either case, when a sufficient energy level is detected at the receiver, indicating a pressure level below the selected threshold, power is switched to a sounder to warn the user of the low pressure condition.

  • Patent number: 4971052
Abstract: A powered respirator comprises a motor-driven fan unit drawing air through an upstream filter for delivery to a facepiece. Operation of the fan motor is controlled in response to a differential pressure sensor tapped in across the fan unit so as to reduce the fan throughput in response to an increase in the pressure differential and to increase the fan throughput in response to a decrease in the pressure differential, and thereby match the delivery of air to the breathing demand of the wearer. The diaphragm or other pressure-responsive member of the sensor is isolated from unfiltered air and can therefore provide no leakage path for contaminants to the facepiece. In an alternative embodiment the positions of the fan and filter are reversed so that the fan is upstream of the filter, and similarly controlled in response to the differential pressure across the fan.

  • Patent number: 4464800
Abstract: In an attachment device for use in pairs to mount a face-protective shield, such as a welding helmet, for lifting and lowering pivotal movement on a headgear, the provision of two separate pieces adapted for interfitted engagement relative to each other at longitudinally adjusted positions determined by the requirements of the particular make of headgear and face shield concerned. One of the pieces has a tubular boss projecting therefrom, while the other piece has an elongate slot through which the boss extends. Interengaging means, such as respective series of saw-like teeth, are provided on confronting faces of the two pieces, whereby the positions of the two pieces relative to each other can be adjusted to place the boss as may be required by the position of a boss-receiving opening in a side wall of a particular make of face-protective shield.
