  • Patent number: 10478870
Abstract: Material lining the inside surface of a section of pipe is removed by a hydrodemolition nozzle assembly mounted on a working end of an elongated boom. The opposed end of the boom is supported outside the pipe on a movable support for inserting and retracting the boom from the inside of the pipe. The nozzles remove the liner while the working end of the boom is supported by a wheel resting on the liner that has not yet been removed and that rolls along the inside liner as the pipe is made to revolve around the boom. The nozzles are oriented to eject the liner and water downstream and away from the boom.

  • Patent number: 9982446
Abstract: A steeply inclined surface is hydrodemolished by providing a staging platform and a rig that includes a base frame defining a planar footprint within the frame. The rig is suspended from the platform by a cable such that frame is coplanar with the surface and the incline of the surface causes the rig to lean against it. Rails are provided on the surface to restrain spurious lateral movement of the rig. The rig is positioned on the surface and nozzles mounted on a trolley within a travelling carriage on the frame travel in two dimensions to hydrodemolish the surface within the footprint. The rig is moved vertically along the rails and laterally along the platform to reposition the rig to work a new section of the surface in conjunction with other rails that are also mounted on the surface.

  • Patent number: 9476170
Abstract: A shield system for a hydrodemolition apparatus has a loop whose ends are secured to opposite sides of a reciprocating nozzle carrier. The loop may be supported by a supporting structure surrounding the frame along which the nozzle carrier reciprocates. The loop overlays portions of one or more gaps through which one or more nozzles extend to work an underlying surface. The nozzles have access to the underlying surface through the gaps under the nozzle carrier, but the balance of the gaps are covered by the loop which is drawn or pushed by the nozzle carrier during reciprocation.

  • Patent number: 8827373
Abstract: The subject matter of the invention disclosed herein is a hydro-demolition device and a top-down method for deconstructing structural surfaces. The device includes a rigid support frame mounted above a work-face on the structural surface being deconstructed. The rigid frame supports a cutting nozzles that move up and down along the structural surface. The nozzles may be mounted on a carriage that is movably connected to the rigid frame. The carriage may swing about a swing axis so that the nozzles move axially toward and away from the carriage. The nozzles may be movable toward and away from the work-face. The various movements of the nozzles are effectuated by rotators and drivers.

  • Patent number: 8814274
Abstract: A machine and method are disclosed for deconstructing walls and other substantially vertical surfaces. The machine comprises a static, stand-alone support-frame. A carriage is movably mounted on the support-frame, which carriage can be raised and lowered along the support-frame. The carriage includes a carrier-bar, which may be straight or curved. One or more nozzles are mounted to the carrier-bar by means of a nozzle carrier that moves back and forth along the length of the carrier-bar. The nozzles are connected to a high-pressure supply of an erosive material, preferably water. The erosive material, when forced through the nozzles, form jet streams that are directed against the surface of the workface, thereby eroding the surface. Optionally, the invention comprises means of yawing and rotating the nozzles, and means of adjusting the nozzles towards or away from the workface. Optionally, the invention comprises a work platform mounted on the support-frame.

  • Patent number: 7100622
Abstract: A scarifier for scarifying an interior surface of a sewer pipe, which includes an elongated frame having spaced apart upstanding frame elements at either end forming a plurality of guide surfaces on each side. A first track extends from one end of the frame to another, reversibly moveable upwardly along a first set of the guide surfaces on a first side of the frame in response to a control signal, which controls a drive system coupled to the track. A nozzle assembly is reversibly moveable along the track from one end of the scarifier to another so that a nozzle, mounted on the nozzle assembly, which emits a jet of fluid towards an interior surface of the sewer pipe, is operative to scarify a swath along the interior surface.
