  • Patent number: 7040729
Abstract: Systems and methods for delivering ink by controlling a pressure of the ink. A vacuum or partial vacuum is maintained at an ink reservoir that supplies ink to one or more print heads. As the temperature of the inks or of the printing system changes, the pressure of the ink experiences a corresponding change. The printing system is equipped with temperature sensors to detect the temperature of the ink, the print heads, or the printing system. The temperature data is processed and an adjustment is made to the partial vacuum maintained on the ink reservoir to accommodate changes in temperature. The temperatures are repeatedly sampled to ensure that the pressure of the partial vacuum is properly maintained for current temperatures.

  • Patent number: 6739716
Abstract: Systems and methods for curing inks with radiation. An apparatus includes a housing that includes a pair of reflectors and/or two separate lamps of different power that direct ultraviolet radiation onto the inks being cured. The pre-cure reflector only reflects a portion of the radiation such that the inks are not fully cured. The pre-cure reflector causes the inks to change or thicken slightly such that they do not move on the media or merge with other inks while still retaining a liquid or wet nature. All colors of ink can then be placed in a single layer before the cure reflector fully cures the UV inks by reflecting sufficient UV radiation onto the single layer of UV ink.

  • Patent number: 6705711
Abstract: A printing system includes a printing device fluidly communicating with a main ink reservoir and a vacuum pump. The main ink reservoir refills one or more reservoirs mounted within the printing device when the ink contained therein falls below a defined tolerance level. The vacuum pump varies a level of a vacuum or partial vacuum within the reservoir to maintain a pressure level at one or more nozzles of one or more print heads mounted in the printing device. Variations in the level of the vacuum or partial vacuum can be based upon the desired pressure at the nozzles, the particular volume or level of ink stored within the reservoir, and the type of ink stored within the reservoir. Through creating the vacuum or partial vacuum, the inks stored within the reservoir are degassed before being delivered to the print head.

  • Patent number: 4632598
Abstract: An elongated roadway barrier having an upright wall attached to a base support adapted to engage a roadway surface is provided with retractable wheels which are lowered simultaneously with the application of a lateral force to the barrier using a cable system attached to drive motors located proximate the side of the roadway or using a self-propelled drive mounted in the barrier.
