  • Patent number: 6385955
Abstract: An adjustable height self-lubricating pulley system for use on the flyer bow of a twisting machine that twists strands. The height of the pulley can be adjusted to control the distance of the cable from the flyer bow during the cable's path along the flyer bow by selectively mounting the pulley spindle in one of a plurality of apertures in a pair of side plates of the pulley. The pulley is self-lubricating by virtue of the pulley spindle being coated with a self-lubricating liner system including polytetrafluoroethylene and other fillers in a resin system.

  • Patent number: 5809763
Abstract: A flyer bow is presented for use with twisting machines to twist wires. The flyer bow has inner and outer surfaces, and at least one surface is curved to form an airfoil in cross section. The curved surface may be the outer surface or the inner surface. Both surfaces may be curved to form a symmetric airfoil. The inner surface has a wire receiving recess and a wear strip recess spanning the wire receiving recess. Aerodynamically shaped wire guides may be attached to the inner surface opposite to the wire receiving recess.

  • Patent number: 4983240
Abstract: A flanged bearing includes a layer of woven braid which is continuous throughout a sleeve and a flange portions thereof, with at least one braid strand substantially parallel to a bearing axis. The sleeve may be cylindrical in shape and the flange portion washer shaped, and the braid may include carbon fiber strands impregnated with a polyimide resin so that the bushing is lightweight and self-lubricating at high temperatures.

  • Patent number: 4813025
Abstract: A system for monitoring the safety and location of individuals includes a portable transceiver worn by each individual and a base control unit for sending interrogation signals to the individual units. The interrogation signals are transmitted through both air and water, and the individual units transmit a response through the medium through which the interrogation signal was received. The base unit measures both the elapsed time from transmission to reception and the incoming phase angles of the response signal, and converts these measurements to indications of distance and angle between the base unit and the individual transceivers.
