Publication number: 20030190367Abstract: For the repair of injured bone or cartilage, an oxygen enriched material is formed with a high-level (partial pressure) and amount (volume) of dissolved oxygen to support tissue healing. The oxygenated material can be placed in a container having an air valve and pressurized in the container with oxygen to supersaturate the material. The resulting container can be sterilized and transported for use. Immediately prior to use, the valve can be operated to vent the pressure in the container thereby facilitating access to the material. The material can then be applied directly to the hard tissue injury. Absorption of the oxygen to facilitate healing can be enhanced with the use of ultrasonic energy.
