  • Patent number: 11861048
Abstract: A converged device including a first subsystem and a second subsystem, configured to operate in multiple operation modes with varying levels of security. One example provides a method for operating the device. The method includes determining, during a startup sequence of the first subsystem and with a first processor of the first subsystem, a last operation mode for the first subsystem. The method includes determining, responsive to detecting that a SIM is installed in the converged device, a network type for the SIM. The method includes controlling, with the first processor, a first communication interface based on the network type and the last operation mode. The method includes determining, during a startup sequence of the second subsystem and with a second processor of the second subsystem, the last operation mode for the first subsystem and controlling, with the second processor, a second communication interface based on the last operation mode.

  • Patent number: 11516645
Abstract: Devices and systems for providing cross-agency communications at an incident are described. An incident manager determines attributes of devices to be used at the incident, negotiating the devices and device attributes with each first responder agency from which devices are to be dispatched to the incident. The manager controls lifecycles of network slices to provide communication services for the incident. The lifecycle is controlled based on communication from each UE indicating arrival to and departure from the incident, as well as the attributes of the UE.

  • Patent number: 10911927
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for supporting multiple emergency users in a push-to-talk group. The methods include receiving a first emergency alert from a first user device in the push-to-talk group; receiving a second emergency alert from a second user device in the push-to-talk group; causing the first emergency alert and second emergency alert to be provided to each of the console devices in the push-to-talk group; receiving, from the first user device, a first communication and receiving, from the second user device, a second communication; causing the first communication and the second communication to each of the console devices in the push-to-talk group. The methods further include receiving, from a first console device, a selection of one of the first user device and the first emergency alert; and, in response subsequently selectively routing a third communication from the first user device to the first console device and not to a second console device in the push-to-talk group.

  • Publication number: 20180006843
Abstract: A method is provided for routing data between a tethered device and multiple Packet Data Networks (PDNs) by a modem device. The modem device creates routing rules between the tethered device and the PDN. The modem device creates a Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) that corresponds to the connection. The modem device also assigns an Internet Protocol (IP) address for the VLAN on the tethered device and assigns a Domain Name System (DNS) address of the PDN for the VLAN. The modem device sends an assign IP to interface command that includes the assigned IP address and the DNS address to the tethered device. The tethered device creates a VLAN network interface that corresponds to the VLAN on the tethered device. The received IP address and DNS address are assigned to the VLAN at the tethered device.

  • Patent number: 9161272
Abstract: A lossless call may be established over a wireless radio network by determining, at a target subscriber device during a received call, that one or more identified media items in a stream of media items of the call being received over a first radio channel was not successfully received, and responsively: continuing to receive first subsequent media items of the call and buffering, instead of rendering at the target subscriber device, the first subsequent media items, requesting the identified media items, receiving by the target subscriber device via an established second radio channel, different from the first radio channel, the identified media items, re-ordering the identified media items chronologically with respect to the buffered first subsequent media items to create the re-ordered subsequent media stream, and rendering, by the target subscriber device, the re-ordered subsequent media stream at a first increased relative rate.

  • Publication number: 20140023346
Abstract: In some embodiments, privacy protection may be achieved for video streams that are recorded on a substantially ongoing basis, for example for gesture recognition purposes. The address of recorded groups of pixels making up the video stream may be shuffled in memory. That is, instead of changing the data, successive pixels are not written successively into the memory but instead the data may be shuffled so that whatever is in memory is unrecognizable.

  • Patent number: 7102570
Abstract: A method for use in a mobile communication system for estimating the location of a target mobile station (MS) which includes receiving signals from the target MS (N) at a plurality of receivers (MS1, MS2, MS3) in different locations and calculating the location of the target MS (N) from information obtained from the received signals, wherein at least one of the receivers (MS1) is a searching MS and wherein the calculation of location is carried out by the searching MS (MS1). The method may involve the target MS and the searching MS or MSs communicating by a direct mode of operation (DMO) link. The searching MSs may conveniently have GPS attachments. A mobile station which may be used as the target MS or as a searching MS and a system incorporating the same is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20060176189
Abstract: The present invention relates to an electrostatic capacity type encoder which includes a variable capacitance mechanism made on two dimensional planes, random time varying excitation generation system, interlaced fine & coarse cycles and digital signal processing unit. A variable capacitance mechanism which includes stationary and rotating disks facing each other and forming one or more variable capacitors. The transmit electrodes are split to two transmit phases and the receive electrodes to two receive phases, both can be implemented on two dimensional printed circuit boards without third dimension via interconnects. The combination of the 2 by 2 grid provides the four combinations required to detect both position and direction. Another configuration is made of electrostatic capacity type encoder which includes a first and second stationary disks and in between a third rotating disk, made either of a dielectric material with varying geometry or thickness or from a conductive patterns printed on a PCB.

  • Patent number: 7082315
Abstract: A method for setting up a group call within a dispatch radio communication system is disclosed. Additional stations which are not programmed to respond to a transmitted group identification code (GIC) are enabled to join the call. The method comprises steps carried out by a service provider of (a) providing first and second additional fields in a set-up message, the first additional field carrying a Group Call Access Permission (GCAP) value and the second additional field carrying a Help Request Level (HRL) value, (b) enabling a call initiator to select a GCAP value, according to a range of stations the call initiator wishes to reach, and a HRL value, according to an assigned call priority, for transmission alongside the GIC in the step (a) fields, and (c) enabling any station that receives a set-up message to determine whether to join the call based on the GCAP and HRL values.
