  • Patent number: 5512415
Abstract: A high-contrast photographic element, adapted for use in the field of graphic arts, includes a hydrazide nucleator and an amine booster and comprises a silver halide emulsion layer which is capable of forming a latent image under conditions of use and a second silver halide emulsion layer which is not capable of forming a latent image under conditions of use.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 7, 1995
Date of Patent: April 30, 1996
    Assignee: Eastman Kodak Company
Inventors: Allison H. C. Dale, Roger H. Piggin, Michael B. Ledger, David Beaumond
  • Patent number: 5298362
Abstract: High contrast graphic arts photographic materials exhibiting improved accuracy in image reproduction are comprised of a support, a silver halide emulsion layer having a chloride content of at least 50 mole percent, and a non-electroconductive hydrophilic colloid layer containing both a vinyl polymer and a hydrophilic colloid interposed between the support and the silver halide emulsion layer. A hydrazine nucleating agent is incorporated in or adjacent to the silver halide emulsion layer and the photographic material preferably also contains an amino compound which functions as a booster.

  • Patent number: 5013642
Abstract: A photographic element is disclosed comprising a support having thereon a silver halide emulsion layer spectrally sensitized with(a) a first sensitizing dye according to the formula: ##STR1## Z.sub.1 and Z.sub.2 each independently represents the atoms necessary to complete a substituted or unsubstituted 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic nucleus,R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 each independently represents substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or substituted or unsubstituted aryl.R.sub.3, R.sub.4, R.sub.5, and R.sub.6 each independently represents hydrogen, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, substituted or unsubstituted aryl, andX represents a counterion, and(b) a second sensitizing dye having a maximum sensitivity at a wavelength of about 5 to 100 nm less than the wavelength of maximum sensitivity of the first sensitizing dye.
