Patent number: 11962412Abstract: A method for preserving a frame check sequence (FCS) of a data frame during backscatter communication is provided. The method comprises: receiving a transmitted signal including a transmitted data frame, wherein the transmitted data frame includes a first data sequence and the FCS; determining a cyclic redundancy check (CRC) preservation sequence based on a backscattering tag data sequence, a bit-length of the backscattering tag data sequence, and a given CRC algorithm; and backscattering the transmitted signal to form a backscattered signal including a backscattered data frame, wherein the backscattered data frame includes a second data sequence and the FCS. The second data sequence includes a transmitted data sequence, an encoded tag data sequence and the CRC preservation sequence. The CRC preservation sequence preserves the FCS of the transmitted data frame in the backscattered data frame. The FCS is usable to detect communication errors in the backscattered data frame.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2023Date of Patent: April 16, 2024Assignee: HaiLa Technologies Inc.Inventors: Vytas Kezys, Juan Miguel David Becerra, Matheus Lemes Ferronato

Patent number: 11915197Abstract: Provided are systems and methods for programmatically weighting disparate inputs to optimize a predictive model. The predictive model may generate component weighted values associated with each disparate input to facilitate programmatic combination of the disparate inputs, and an aggregated weighted value may be generated from the combined component weighted values. Aggregated weighted values may be generated for a plurality of input sets, each of which may be programmatically scored relative to the remaining input sets. In some embodiments, the predictive model and an associated engine may be packaged for instantiation and execution on a local terminal.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 2021Date of Patent: February 27, 2024Assignee: Assurant, Inc.Inventors: Manuel Becerra, David Glenn McMillan, Edward Gorman, Gary McWilliams

Patent number: 9245362Abstract: A system and a method are disclosed for visually displaying data points using charts on a display screen with limited display area. A fish-eye distortion region allows presentation of detailed information for some data points compared to other data points that are displayed. The chart can be moved relative to the distortion region thereby changing the data points displayed within the fish-eye that present additional information. The relative movement between the chart and the distortion region is triggered by different kinds of inputs from the user including, tilting of the device, swiping with a pointing device and selecting a particular data point.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 2013Date of Patent: January 26, 2016Assignee: MeLLmo, Inc.Inventors: Quinton Alsbury, David Becerra

Patent number: 8810574Abstract: A system and a method are disclosed for visually displaying data points using pie charts on a display screen with limited display area. Detailed information is presented for individual sectors compared to other sectors displayed. The sector is selected for displaying detailed information based on its orientation with respect to a centerline axis of the chart. The pie chart can be rotated to cause detailed information to be displayed for different sectors. The mechanism is used to display detailed information of data points for other kinds of charts including multi-series pie charts and donut charts.Type: GrantFiled: April 2, 2009Date of Patent: August 19, 2014Assignee: MeLLmo Inc.Inventors: Quinton Alsbury, David Becerra

Patent number: 8239765Abstract: A system and a method are disclosed for visually displaying data points using stacked bar charts on a display screen with limited display area. A magnification region allows presentation of detailed information for a stacked bar compared to other stacked bars displayed. A stacked bar within a magnification region can be further magnified to display additional information for individual bars within the stacked bar. An individual bar is expanded to a height suitable for displaying information associated with the bar. The stacked bar chart can be moved relative to the magnification region thereby changing the stacked bar displayed within the magnification region.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 2009Date of Patent: August 7, 2012Assignee: Mellmo Inc.Inventors: Quinton Alsbury, David Becerra

Publication number: 20120112997Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer readable media provide space-efficient user interfaces to data cubes and pivot table information. Because the user interfaces are more efficient in usage of display area, smaller displays can be used more effectively in reviewing such data. The user interfaces provide a multi-dimensional navigation approach among dimensions represented in the data, which allows users to more easily maintain context when reviewing large pivot table reports, and the like. Other user interface features that ease review of such reports on smaller devices also are disclosed.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 17, 2012Publication date: May 10, 2012Applicant: MELLMO INC.Inventors: Santiago Becerra, SR., Quinton Alsbury, Jaime Zuluaga, David Becerra, Claire B. Publication number: 20110289397Abstract: Embodiments display table data in formats that are suitable for presentation in a limited display area. The columns can be presented in numeric/text format as well as chart format. User input allows conversion of a column displayed using numeric format to a chart format and back, for example, by double tapping on a touch sensitive screen. A key column is displayed with the chart column. Depending on the screen size, other columns may be displayed along with the chart column. Embodiments determine whether text data is displayed using a single line or multiple lines, based on percentage of labels of the column that fit within the width of the column. Various criteria determine width of columns displayed using collapsed width or expanded width. User input allows conversion of column display from collapsed width to expanded width or back, for example, by double tapping on the screen.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 19, 2011Publication date: November 24, 2011Inventors: Mauricio Eastmond, Jerrold H. Publication number: 20100309228Abstract: Effective display of data organized along multiple dimensions on a device having a display area that is small compared to the amount of data being shown in the chart is provided. A three-dimensional object that can be rotated along various axes of rotation is displayed in a particular orientation, displaying information related to a data point. Rotation of the object causes the object to be displayed in a different orientation thereby displaying information related to a different data point. The coordinates of the new data point displayed are determined based on the original coordinates and the direction and amount of rotation of the object. In one embodiment, a data arranged along two-dimensions is associated with a cube that can be rotated vertically or horizontally.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 4, 2009Publication date: December 9, 2010Inventors: Camilo Mattos, Joel Kraut, Santiago Becerra, David Becerra, Patrick Cheng, Jaime Zuluaga, Quinton Alsbury
