  • Patent number: 11983261
Abstract: The techniques disclosed herein provide an enhanced single sign-on flow for secure computing resources, such as a virtual machine or hosted applications. In some configurations, the techniques process different types of security data, e.g., credentials, tokens, certificates, and reference objects at specific computing entities of a system to provide a single sign-on flow for providing access to secure computing resources from a client computing device. In one illustrative example, a select type of security data, such as a certificate, is generated from a token and a claim at a particular computing resource, such as an agent operating on a virtual machine. In another example, a signed version of the certificate can be stored and verified at the virtual machine. By generating certificates at such particular computing resources, the computing resource can verify a person's credentials using a secure single sign-on flow without requiring the person to provide credentials multiple times.

  • Patent number: 8862905
Abstract: The disclosed embodiments provide a system that analyzes telemetry data from a computer system. During operation, the system obtains the telemetry data as a set of telemetric signals using a set of sensors in the computer system. Next, the system analyzes the telemetry data to estimate a value of a parameter associated with the computer system, wherein the parameter is at least one of a power utilization and a temperature. Finally, the system controls a subsequent value of the parameter by modulating a virtual duty cycle of a processor in the computer system based on the estimated value.

  • Patent number: 8738702
Abstract: The disclosure provides a method and corresponding system for personalizing and disbursing content material in an automated fashion based on differing characteristics or profiles of the recipients. The system includes a database of potential recipients with key characteristics such as location data, revenue, product ownership, customer status, tenure with the company/organization, payment status, credit rating, whether they have recently responded to other material, and the like. Dissemination media include email communications, collaterals, brochures, textual materials, image and video information, and any similar media, where the contents of the communication material is customized based on the key characteristics profiles of the recipients and driven by a set of business rules that can be adapted to fit various scenarios.

  • Patent number: 8612283
Abstract: A rule-based method and apparatus for evaluating the cost of operating a network infrastructure are disclosed. For example, the method receives a request to evaluate the cost of operating a network infrastructure in a form of one or more rules, e.g., in a natural language format. The one or more rules are translated into at least one cost model. The method then applies the at least one cost model to determine the cost of operating the network infrastructure.

  • Publication number: 20100157841
Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining a bandwidth requirement for a network are disclosed. For example, the method gathers data for one or more types of traffic, and determines an optimal traffic model for each of the one or more types of traffic in accordance with the data and one or more traffic model adaptation rules for each of the one or more types of traffic. The method then determines a demand forecast for each of the one or more types of traffic by applying the optimal traffic model for each of the one or more types of traffic, and determines a bandwidth requirement for the one or more types of traffic in accordance with the demand forecast.

  • Publication number: 20100031365
Abstract: A method for providing network access privacy by classifying filter parameters of a group of users who are accessing one or more network destinations. The system includes a means for collecting information from both users, and about network destinations, generating suggestions for a user regarding filter parameters, and filtering network communications of users going to network destinations. In operation, users who are accessing network destinations are prompted to choose from a selection of filter parameters. The information provided by these users is then analyzed and used to generate suggested filter parameters for other users. As users provide more information to the system about various network destinations the system is able to provide more information to users about more network destinations and thus generate more accurate filter parameter suggestions. After a user selects their filter parameters the system filters a range of information coming from the user and going out to the network destination.
