Patent number: 12621086Abstract: Example embodiments of the present disclosure relate to configuration and interpretation of control information for a retransmission. A first device receives control information from a second device. In accordance with a determination that the control information indicates a retransmission to be scheduled from the second device. the first device determines an information combination of at least one of the following: at least one field of the control information, a search space in which the control information is received. and a format of the control information. The first device further determines a source traffic type of the retransmission based on the information combination, the source traffic type of the retransmission indicating whether the retransmission is for traffic in a point-to-multipoint initial transmission or in a point-to-point initial transmission.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 2021Date of Patent: May 5, 2026Assignee: Nokia Technologies OyInventors: Athul Prasad, David Bhatoolaul, Naizheng Zheng, David Navrátil, Volker Pauli, Ugur Baran Elmali

Patent number: 12581493Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relates to estimating downlink size for a multicast traffic. According to embodiments of the present disclosure, a first device receives downlink control information (DCI) for a multicast traffic. The first device determines field size(s) in the DCI based on one or more parameters which are associated with the field size estimation for the multicast traffic. The first device decodes the DCI based on the determined field sizes(s). In this way, the DCI can be blindly decoded correctly.Type: GrantFiled: August 16, 2022Date of Patent: March 17, 2026Assignee: Nokia Technologies OyInventors: Athul Prasad, David Bhatoolaul, Naizheng Zheng, David Navratil, Volker Pauli, Ugur Baran Elmali, Matthew Baker

Patent number: 12574947Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to downlink control and data channel configuration. A method comprises: determining, at a first device, a transmission scheme of control information for a second device based on at least one multicast and broadcast service related criterion, the control information related to scheduling multicast service traffic to the second device; transmitting, to the second device, configuration information for causing the second device to obtain the control information; and transmitting, to the second device and based on the determined transmission scheme, the control information on a control channel between the first device and the second device. In this way, the correlation between the scheduling mechanism of multicast traffic on the downlink data channel and the transmission mechanism of control information on the downlink control channel can be decoupled, resulting in a flexible and dynamic downlink channel configuration and an increased radio resource efficiency.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 2020Date of Patent: March 10, 2026Assignee: Nokia Technologies OyInventors: Athul Prasad, Volker Pauli, David Bhatoolaul, David Navrátil, Naizheng Zheng, Ugur Elmali

Patent number: 12542627Abstract: A UE may be enabled to provide low latency, high reliability, and power savings. If a message of the UE is delay-sensitive, the UE may indicate to a gNB that fast retransmission scheduling may be necessary if a packet is not received over PUSCH. After transmitting the packet, the UE may monitor PDCCH for an indication that retransmission is required. This monitoring may occur sooner than a PDCCH monitoring period would otherwise allow. If the UE receives a DCI indicating that retransmission is required, the UE may retransmit the packet as well as an indication for a fast transmission request. This process may continue until an acknowledgement of the received packet is received in DL or no DCI indicating retransmission is received in DL. Accordingly, the gNB may quickly receive the retransmitted packet while the UE saves power by only performing additional monitoring when requested.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 2021Date of Patent: February 3, 2026Assignee: NOKIA TECHNOLOGIES OYInventors: Rapeepat Ratasuk, Srinivasan Selvaganapathy, Muhammad Majid Butt, Nitin Mangalvedhe, David Bhatoolaul

Patent number: 12538316Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to time domain resource allocation for multicast broadcast service. A first device receives, from a second device, DCI comprising a TDRA field, and determines, based on at least one of an identifier for scrambling the DCI, a RRC state of the first device or a type of traffic configured for the first device, a TDRA list from a set of configurations for TDRA. Then the first device applies, based on the TDRA list, the TDRA field for reception of the traffic from the second device. In this way, a TDRA list to be used may be determined in an optimal manner, with all terminal devices receiving multicast and broadcast traffic determining common values for time domain resources where data traffic would be scheduled.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 2022Date of Patent: January 27, 2026Assignee: NOKIA TECHNOLOGIES OYInventors: Athul Prasad, David Bhatoolaul, Naizheng Zheng, David Navrátil, Ugur Baran Elmali

Patent number: 12495397Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to communications with preconfigured uplink resources (PUR). A method implemented at a terminal device comprises identifying a need to change a transmission configuration of the terminal device, the terminal device being in a transmission mode with a set of preconfigured uplink resources (PURs) allocated for the terminal device to transmit user data to a network device; and in response to identifying the need to change the transmission configuration, transmitting control information to the network device using a first PUR in the set of PURs, the control information comprising information relevant to the change of the transmission configuration. In this way, it is possible to enable the terminal device to save power, time, and resources by bypassing a full random access procedure when the transmission configuration is needed to be changed.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 2018Date of Patent: December 9, 2025Assignee: NOKIA TECHNOLOGIES OYInventors: David Bhatoolaul, Rapeepat Ratasuk, Srinivasan Selvaganapathy, Haitao Li, Matthew Baker

Patent number: 12426050Abstract: Techniques of transmitting and receiving HARQ feedback for point to multipoint data packets include using two different PUCCHs for providing ACK/NACK feedback to a sequence of point-to-multipoint (PTM) data packets. For example, when a gNB sends PTM data packets (e.g., as part of a subscription) to subscriber UE's, each UE sends ACK/NACK messages in response over a first PUCCH which has a smaller bandwidth than a conventional PUCCH under which full uplink control information (UCI) may be sent. In some implementations, the ACK/NACK messages are a single bit. In response to a NACK message from a UE, the gNB allocates a second PUCCH to the UE. The UE then send additional details to explain the NACK message. In some implementations, the additional details include an identifier of a missing data (e.g., packet m of n).Type: GrantFiled: July 28, 2021Date of Patent: September 23, 2025Assignee: NOKIA TECHNOLOGIES OYInventors: David Bhatoolaul, Volker Pauli, Fasil Berhanu Tesema, David Navratil

Patent number: 12425912Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to methods, apparatuses and computer readable storage media for channel state information (CSI) reporting. According to embodiments of the present disclosure, a first device receives from a second device a configuration for CSI reporting.
