The device consists of means for pre-defining at least one related area in a representation space comprising positions that can receive elements that are representative of the data, said space including at least one complementary area having no data representation. It also comprises means for specifying at least one data bootstrapping element for each related area, positioning the bootstrapping elements at bootstrapping positions in the related areas, successively determining new elements from elements already positioned, in accordance with at least one proximity order relation based on contents of the data, and successively positioning the new elements at positions neighboring the positions occupied by the data elements already positioned.
