  • Patent number: 9297250
Abstract: In some aspects, an injection treatment of a subterranean region is controlled based on a target net treating pressure. A measure of fluid pressure acting on a subterranean region during an injection treatment is received. The measure of fluid pressure is compared against a target net treating pressure for fluid acting on the subterranean region during the injection treatment. The target net treating pressure is associated with a target fracture growth orientation. The injection treatment is modified based on a result of the comparison.

  • Patent number: 9229458
Abstract: A fluid regulating device includes a regulator valve having an inlet, an outlet, and a valve port disposed between the inlet and the outlet. An actuator is coupled to the regulator valve and includes a valve disc that displaces between a closed position and an open position. The device also includes an overpressure protection device adapted to stop flow from the inlet to the outlet when pressure in a control cavity reaches a predetermined level. The overpressure protection device includes a sensing tube having a first end in fluid communication with the control cavity and a second end in fluid communication with the outlet. The sensing tube has a first portion extending parallel to the flow axis. One or more apertures are disposed in the sensing tube adjacent to the second end, and each of the apertures has a centerline that is perpendicular to the flow axis.

  • Patent number: 9217318
Abstract: In some aspects, a target net treating pressure for an injection treatment of a subterranean region is determined. Fracture growth orientation in a subterranean region is modeled by a computer system. In the model, the fracture growth is a response to fluid pressure acting on the subterranean region. A target net treating pressure for fluid acting on the subterranean region during an injection treatment of the subterranean region is determined based on the modeled fracture growth orientations.

  • Patent number: 9086888
Abstract: A method for processing instructions. The instructions are processed by a processor unit while using a first table in a plurality of tables to predict a set of instructions needed by the processor unit after processing of a conditional instruction. An identification is formed that a rate of success in correctly predicting the set of instructions when using the first table is less than a threshold number. A sequence of the instructions being processed by the processor unit is searched for an instruction that matches a marker in a set of markers for identifying when to use the plurality of tables. An identification that the instruction that matches the marker is formed. A second table from the plurality of tables referenced by the marker is identified. The second table is used in place of the first table.

  • Patent number: 9004452
Abstract: Valve bodies having integral boost reducing capability are described herein. An example fluid regulator includes a body having a main passageway defining an orifice to fluidly couple an inlet and an outlet where the main passageway defines an inlet volume boundary between the inlet and the orifice and an outlet volume boundary between the orifice and the outlet. A portion of the outlet volume boundary includes an inner wall adjacent the orifice. A valve plug is disposed within the second portion of the passageway such that the inner wall substantially surrounds an outer surface of the valve plug to substantially restrict fluid flow between the inner wall and the outer surface of the valve plug and toward the throat. The valve body having a secondary fluid passage within the outlet volume boundary to increase fluid flow toward the throat of the valve body when a fluid flows across the orifice.

  • Patent number: 8889583
Abstract: The present disclosure utilizes an emulsion aggregation (EA) process to produce ceramic catalysts of controlled surface area, in particular, extremely high surface area powders. In embodiments, resins are utilized to form resin catalysts including the active catalysts. These resin catalysts may be in powder form, having a high surface area. The particle size, particle size distribution, and shape of the produced powders can be controlled to a great degree. In embodiments, the powders can also be made porous.
