  • Patent number: 8619356
Abstract: A new method for making a nonlinear optical structure for frequency conversion and for using that structure for frequency conversion is described. The nonlinear optical structure is made by depositing alternating contiguous layers of gallium arsenide and aluminum gallium arsenide onto a gallium arsenide substrate. Optical frequency conversion is performed by transmitting a pump laser beam through the structure. The new method is easier to perform than prior art methods.

  • Publication number: 20130237185
Abstract: A system and method is described for providing an interactive rich media information service to users of mobile devices. The rich media information is presented to users in a plurality of interactive rich media channels. A subscriber-specific data stream is received at the mobile device containing channel data for each of the rich media channel that the user has subscribed to. The channel data is separated and stored corresponding to each such subscribed-to channel. An interactive multimedia runtime container (iMRC). is executed on the mobile device for each subscribed-to channel. The rich media channels are played on the iMRC and displayed on the display of the mobile device. Using the user interface elements of the mobile device, the user may navigate through the information on the channels, navigate between different channels, subscribe or un-subscribe to channels, and enter user preferences for further tailoring the information presented in the subscribed-to channels.

  • Patent number: 8050315
Abstract: An open collector/open drain interface, such as I2C interface between two or more integrated circuit devices, employs isolation techniques to provide electrical isolation of a digital signal for transmission of the signal between the devices. Uni-directional isolator channels are utilized to transmit bidirectional digital signals, and a selection of an isolator channel operating in an intended transmission direction is performed by direction control logic. Edge detection logic is utilized to determine changes in edges of a digital signal, thus determining a transmitting device and a transmission direction. The direction state is held in a direction state register. This state is held until the appropriate edge is detected on the transmit side, returning the isolator to the idle state. In the idle state neither side of the isolator is in a driven state. During transmission, the digital signal is transmitted through an isolator channel and sent to a receiving device.

  • Patent number: 7921252
Abstract: An interface between USB devices employs isolation techniques to provide electrical isolation of a USB signal for transmission of the USB signal between the devices. Unidirectional isolator channels are utilized to transmit the USB signals, and a selection of an isolator channel operating in an intended direction is performed by either direction control logic or a USB hub function. Logic may be employed to detect a device attempting to initiate a USB signal. The logic operates to enable a transmitter on a receiving side and isolate the USB signal through an isolator channel operating in a transmission direction.

  • Patent number: 7610422
Abstract: An interface between two or more integrated circuit devices employs isolation techniques to provide electrical isolation of a digital signal for transmission of the digital signal between a master device and one or more slave devices. Unidirectional isolator channels are utilized to transmit bidirectional digital signals, and a selection of an isolator channel operating in an intended direction is performed by direction control logic. Logic that monitors read and write transactions operates to determine a desired direction of the digital signal and accordingly directs the digital signal through an appropriate isolator channel.

  • Publication number: 20060080376
Abstract: A present invention Galois field multiplier system and method utilize lookup tables to generate one partial product term and one feedback term in one clock cycle. In one embodiment, a Galois field multiplier system includes a plurality of shift registers, a plurality of exclusive OR components, a partial product lookup table, and a feedback table lookup table. The plurality of shift registers perform shift multiplication operation and are coupled to the plurality of shift registers that perform addition operations. The partial product lookup table and feedback lookup tables are selectively coupled to the exclusive OR components and values from the partial product lookup table and feedback lookup tables are fed into the selectively coupled exclusive OR components. Coefficients of the partial product term and feedback term are utilized as indexes to the partial product lookup table and feedback lookup table respectively.

  • Patent number: 5656079
Abstract: The present invention is an apparatus for the synthesis and growth of single crystals of phosphorus compounds starting with the elemental materials in a single furnace without external exposure. The apparatus of the present invention is a crystal growth furnace heated by RF coils. Inside the furnace is a susceptor heated by a lower coil device for holding a crucible. Above the crucible is selectively positioned a phosphorus improved injector. The improved injector is further surrounded by a susceptor which is heated by an upper coil device. The non-phosphorus materials are placed in the crucible and melted to a desired temperature. The phosphorus material previously placed within the injector is heated by the radiant heat from both crucible and the upper susceptor to drive the phosphorus vapor into the melt through a tube. This is closely controlled by noting the temperature within the injector and adjusting the height of the injector above the melt to control the temperature within the phosphorus material.
