  • Patent number: 12311741
Abstract: A vehicle includes a frame, a tractive element coupled to the frame, an engine coupled to the frame and configured to drive the tractive element, and a debris shield coupled to the frame. The debris shield at least partially defines at least one of a left side or a right side of an engine compartment containing the engine. The debris shield includes an outer frame coupled to the frame and defining a ventilation aperture, an inner frame coupled to the outer frame, and a screen extending across the ventilation aperture. The screen extends between the outer frame and the inner frame such that the inner frame limits movement of the screen relative to the outer frame.

  • Patent number: 11030919
Abstract: The present invention allows a language learning platform to calculate a user's overall language skill. This may be performed as a standalone test or before, during and/or after a language course. The language learning platform may perform a Pre-CAT process, a CAT process, a stage 2—fixed form process and a scoring and reporting process. The Pre-CAT process is designed to quickly get an initial estimate of the user's overall language skill. The CAT processes improves on the accuracy of the Pre-CAT process, preferably until the conditional standard error of measurement for the user's overall language skill is less than a predetermined number. The stage 2—fixed form process may use the user's overall language skill to select speaking, listening and writing assessment items of an appropriate difficulty for the user.

  • Patent number: 10391245
Abstract: A method for creating a sterile connection with a fluid in a container. The container has a sealing member sealing a first end of the container, and a barrier sealing a chamber in fluid communication with the sealing member. The method includes providing a valve sleeve assembly that includes a flexible sleeve having a barrier portion at an end of the flexible sleeve, a hollow first penetrator disposed within the flexible sleeve, and a hollow second penetrator at least partially disposed within the first penetrator. An interior of the flexible sleeve is sterile. The method also includes piercing the barrier portion and the barrier with the first penetrator, and displacing the second penetrator relative to the first penetrator and the sealing member to pierce the sealing member and establish the sterile connection with an interior of the container.

  • Patent number: 9682197
Abstract: Devices, systems, and methods for performing injections with lowered likelihood of infection include needles and other injection means with protective sleeves or sheaths. The protective sleeve can protect the needle before, during, or before and during an injection. The force needed to administer an injection or penetrate an insertion site using an injection device or system with a protective sleeve can be about the same to up to 50% more than the force needed for a system or device without a protective sleeve. The force needed to collapse the protective sleeve can be less than 100 gram-force. The material, the thickness, or both the material and the thickness of the protective sleeve may differ when comparing the portion of the sleeve near the needle tip and the portion near the base of the needle.

  • Patent number: 9198825
Abstract: Medical devices with novel spark gap electrode designs, able to control manually or automatically the electrodes gap are provided. These devices are used to generate a shock wave created by the rapid expansion and collapse of a plasma bubble that is formed between two spark gap electrodes placed in a special liquid medium, when a high differential voltage (kV) is applied to the electrodes. The resulting shock wave impacts a reflector to direct the energy into the body of an animal or a human toward the desired treatment location. This electro-hydraulic principle to create acoustic shock waves as a method of treatment is in use in the medical (lithotripsy, orthopedic use, wound treatment, burns, post-operative treatment, pain treatment, diagnosis, skin and organ transplantation supporting devices, arteriosclerosis treatment), cosmetic (treatment of scars and cellulite) and veterinary (treatment of musculoskeletal disorders) fields.
