  • Patent number: 9139454
Abstract: A turbulence inducing device is described. Embodiments of the device include a nozzle (135), a vessel assembly (110), and an obstructer (140). The vessel assembly typically includes an open ended main channel (115) surrounded by a housing. In typical operation, fluid under positive pressure is forced through the nozzle into the main channel. Disposed at the main channel outlet, the obstructer is adapted to deflect the flowing fluid and induce turbulence that can result in cavitation when the fluid is a liquid. When the liquid includes water, cavitation can result in production of reactive species that oxidatively modify contaminants in the water. Embodiments of the turbulence inducing device can be used to reduce contamination of produced water, the produced water arising from hydrocarbon extraction or exploration.

  • Publication number: 20130319939
Abstract: A modular system for reclamation of a fluid includes a cavitation reactor operative to mechanically oxide the fluid and an ion precipitation system that receives the oxidized fluid from the cavitation reactor and thereafter introduces one or more ions at various locations to initiate precipitation of select materials. The system and associated methodology further includes injecting dissolved air and emulsion breaking chemistry into the fluid before cavitation, coalescing emulsified particulates from the fluid and saturating the fluid in an air saturation chamber that is operable to form a microbial filter.

  • Publication number: 20050098183
Abstract: A face mask has a relatively soft canopy and a more rigid reinforcement member moulded together from different plastics as two shots in a dual-shot moulding process. The peripheral sealing edge of the canopy is tapered to a reduced thickness to increase its flexibility. The reinforcement member is a frame with radially-extending arms supporting respectively a gas port by which gas can enter the mask, a valve that allows air into the mask when there is an inadequate supply at the gas port and a selectively closable vent. The mask is secured to the patient's head by a harness attached to ends of the harness arms.
