  • Patent number: 6741185
Abstract: A method is disclosed for reducing noise in a measured telemetry signal. The method includes tracking a characteristic of at least one harmonic of a noise component in the measured telemetry signal band. The at least one harmonic has a frequency outside a telemetry signal band. The characteristic of the noise component is determined for at least one other harmonic thereof. The at least one other harmonic has a frequency inside the telemetry signal band. A noise reference is generated from the characteristic of the in band harmonic, and the noise reference is combined with the measured telemetry signal to generate a noise-canceled telemetry signal.

Date of Patent: May 25, 2004
    Assignee: Schlumberger Technology Corporation

  • Patent number: 5530176
Abstract: A method and apparatus for disposing of hazardous waste material by burning in a cement-producing kiln includes providing a predetermined quantity of hazardous waste material in a predetermined configuration, and providing an apparatus for aerating and using that apparatus to aerate the hazardous waste material to produce a supplementary fuel having a predetermined density. The method also includes providing an apparatus for injecting the hazardous waste material into the cement kiln and includes the step of injecting the hazardous waste material into the cement kiln at a predetermined injection rate thereby causing the hazardous waste material to burn while suspended in the kiln atmosphere and causing the hazardous waste material to supplement the primary fuel source and maintaining the cement-producing temperature within the kiln.

  • Patent number: 5379310
Abstract: A multiple channel transmitter usable for wavelength division multiplying includes a grating and a curved reflector. A diode array generates a plurality of parallel, spaced apart radiant energy beams which are incident on the grating at an acute angle. The plurality of beams is deflected in part, into the reflector. Back reflected radiant energy is deflected, in part, to the members of tile array causing them to lase at a plurality of different frequencies. The zeroth order deflection of the forward propagating beams off of the grating forms a parallel output.

  • Patent number: 4482327
Abstract: Apparatus for training and testing persons for pouring predetermined quantities of liquid in the mixing and preparation of beverages. The apparatus includes a frame having a backwall and spaced apart support members for supporting a plurality of transparent graduated tubular containers. Each container is marked with graduations indicating incremental quantities of liquid correlated with indicia printed on the containers and/or on the frame adjacent to the mouths of the respective graduated containers. The apparatus is particularly useful in training and testing persons for free pouring beverages and beverage ingredients in the retail liquor service industry. A testing method using the apparatus includes positioning the apparatus so that the trainee cannot view the containers during test pouring operations. Test scores are recorded on a score sheet having printed facsimiles of the graduated containers.
