    Abstract: A rotor shaft includes at least two rotor modules each having a body. Each rotor module has a first longitudinal end including a first torque transmitting feature and a second longitudinal end including a second torque transmitting feature. The rotor module body has a plurality of flats formed on a surface thereof. A magnet is mounted on one or more flat in each of the at least two rotor modules. A sleeve is fitted over the magnets to retain the magnets on the flats.
