Publication number: 20060241669Abstract: A lancing device having a substantially narrow profile housing, optionally configured for attachment in place of a battery cover of a blood-glucose testing meter. A miniature lancet has an oversized sterility cap with a T-shaped end for ease of handling and loading into a lancing device. A flattened portion of the sterility cap is angularly offset, for example generally perpendicular to, a flattened portion of the lancet body, such that twisting the sterility cap into alignment with the lancet body serves to detach the sterility cap from the lancet body.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 4, 2006Publication date: October 26, 2006Inventors: Jeffrey Stout, Avi Robbins, David Buenger

Publication number: 20060069354Abstract: An apparatus for holding a syringe and injecting fluid from the syringe. The apparatus includes a barrel having a bore extending therethrough for receiving a body portion of the syringe, a drive spring, a drive mechanism movable under the influence of the drive spring to advance the syringe from a retracted position within the barrel to an advanced position wherein a needle portion of the syringe extends outwardly of the barrel, and to compress a plunger portion of the syringe relative to the body portion of the syringe to inject the fluid through the needle portion, and a retraction plunger movable within the drive sled between an advanced position and a retracted position, to permit the needle of the syringe to retract back into the housing after the injection is complete.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 30, 2004Publication date: March 30, 2006Inventors: David Buenger, Jeffrey Stout, Carl Griffin

Publication number: 20060069350Abstract: An apparatus for holding a syringe and injecting fluid from the syringe. The apparatus includes a barrel having a bore extending therethrough for receiving a body portion of the syringe, a drive spring, and a telescoping piston movable under the influence of the drive spring to advance the syringe from a retracted position within the barrel to an advanced position wherein a needle portion of the syringe extends outwardly of the barrel, and to compress a plunger portion of the syringe relative to the body portion of the syringe to inject the fluid through the needle portion. After the fluid is injected, the needle is retracted back into a shielded position out of view from the user.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 30, 2004Publication date: March 30, 2006Inventors: David Buenger, Carl Griffin

Publication number: 20050149089Abstract: A lancing device has a carousel of lancets removably received in a housing. In exemplary embodiments, the lancing device includes a sterility cap positioning mechanism that removes sterility caps from the lancets for actuation and afterwards replaces the sterility caps onto the lancets. Preferably, the lancing device includes a lancet advancing mechanism that automatically advances sequential lancets of the lancet carousel for charging and actuating, and a drive mechanism for actuating the lancets. Also provided are replacement lancet carousels, which include a cylindrical carrier with axial openings and a plurality of the lancets axially oriented in the openings.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 19, 2004Publication date: July 7, 2005Inventors: John Trissel, Richard LeVaughn, Gwenn Kennedy, Stephen Flynn, Carl Griffin, John Irwin, Mary Pynes, Stephanie Campbell, Christopher Ruf, Mitchell Solis, Avi Robbins, Jason Heath, Ray Lathrop, David Buenger, Venkat Katragadda

Publication number: 20020175166Abstract: A panel bin comprising panel and one or more bins mounted on the panel. Each bin defines a compartment that may be used for storage and retrieval of articles. The panel defines locations for mounting a plurality of bins in a modular or grid-like arrangement. Each bin has side walls interconnected by a wall forming a front surface of the bin. However, each bin is formed with an open back, the bins mount on the panel so that part of the panel engages and closes the open back portion of the bin, thereby defining a complete compartment for receiving articles. Each bin has a cover hinged from the top of the bin and biased by a resilient member to remain open, so that the cover normally is displaced from the access opening of the bin while in use. The cover may be closed and latched to close the bin. The resilient member contacts but is not attached to the cover.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 12, 2002Publication date: November 28, 2002Inventors: Daniel Robinson, David Buenger
