  • Patent number: 11964696
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a structural frame for a body of a motor vehicle, the structural frame defining, at least in part, an occupant compartment of the vehicle, the structural frame comprising a pair of spaced pillars joined together at an upper region of each pillar to a roof crossmember and further joined together at respective points below the roof crossmember to a structural cross-brace, the structural cross-brace is further arranged to support a pair of spaced apart vehicle suspension connectors and, wherein the structural cross-brace projects from the pillars beyond the suspension connectors so that the space in the occupant compartment between the pillars is substantially unobstructed by the structural cross-brace and, at least a portion of the structural cross-brace is accommodated within the occupant compartment.

  • Publication number: 20240085547
Abstract: A method includes: receiving a ranging signal from the transmitter including a set of multiplexed sub-signals, each multiplexed sub-signal characterized by a frequency in a set of frequencies; calculating a sample-based time-of-arrival estimate based on the series of time-domain samples of the ranging signal; calculating a sample-based uncertainty of the sample-based time-of-arrival; for each sub-signal pair in a subset of multiplexed sub-signals of the set of multiplexed sub-signals, extracting a phase difference of the sub-signal pair; calculating a phase-based time-of-arrival estimate based on the phase difference of each sub-signal pair in the subset of multiplexed sub-signals; calculating a phase-based uncertainty of the phase-based time-of-arrival estimate; and calculating a hybrid time-of-arrival estimate as a weighted combination of the sample-based time-of-arrival estimate, the phase-based time-of-arrival estimate, based on the sample-based uncertainty and the phase-based uncertainty.

  • Patent number: 11920978
Abstract: A method of detecting pulsed radiation comprising the steps of irradiating at least a portion of an array of sensor elements with pulsed radiation (71); addressing the array using a rolling shutter operation (72); reading the array to obtain a radiation image (73); and then applying a pulse detection operation (74) to the radiation image. The rolling shutter operation (72) is configured to address each element line of the array for a predetermined integration period. The predetermined integration period being calculated using an integration period function, itself a function of an anticipated pulse repetition interval of the pulsed radiation. The method and apparatus for the same enable low cost camera arrays to be used for pulse detection and for wider application in the field of low cost communications.

  • Patent number: 11886232
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for providing a mobile communications device with access to a provider with a plurality of security levels. The security state of the device varies according to severity levels of device security events. The mobile communications device generates data regarding security events and provides the data to the provider, which compares that security state to a policy associated with the provider. The mobile communications device is allowed to access to a provider service where the device's current security state meets or exceeds the security state required for the provider service.

  • Publication number: 20230247428
Abstract: A method is provided for evaluating the usage of a mobile communications device that itself provides access to a resource. In the method, a detected usage of the mobile communications device is compared to a stored usage pattern of an authorized user. When a measure associated with the difference between the detected usage and the stored usage pattern exceeds a threshold, it is concluded that the mobile communications device is being used by an unauthorized user. In response to this conclusion, a restriction is placed on an ability of the mobile communications device to access the resource.

  • Publication number: 20220211281
Abstract: A method, device, and system for evaluating a vessel of a patient, and in particular the hemodynamic impact of a stenosis within the vessel of a patient. Proximal and distal pressure measurements are made using first and second instrument while the first instrument is moved longitudinally through the vessel from a first position to a second position and the second instrument remains in a fixed longitudinal position within the vessel. A series of pressure ratio values are calculated, and a pressure ratio curve is generated. One or more stepped change in the pressure ratio curve are then identified and/or located using an Automatic Step Detection (ASD) process and/or algorithm.

  • Patent number: 10859435
Abstract: A laser detector apparatus (1) is provided, where a pixel array (3) is arranged behind a lens arrangement (4) such that distant objects (9) (in general, those at infinity) are out of focus at the pixel array. The image from the pixel array is evaluated by a computer processor (6) to detect such out of focus images which will be of a known size and shape (generally circular spots of known width). This can enable distant laser threats to be readily distinguished from nearby bright objects (10), whilst also protecting the pixel array from powerful laser sources (because the laser energy is not focussed to a point, on the pixel array it is less likely to damage the pixel array). It can also enable the wavelength of the laser to be accurately determined from the ratio of colours in the image of the laser spot, because it will typically not be a saturated image.

  • Patent number: 10509911
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for conditionally granting access to service levels based on a determined security state of the device requesting access. A software component, upon receiving a request for access to a provider having a plurality of service levels, determines the current security state of the requesting device. The software component compares that security state to a policy associated with the provider. The software component then allows the requesting device access to the provider services where the device's current security state meets or exceeds the security state required for the service.
