  • Patent number: 11969142
Abstract: A method of compressing tissue during a surgical procedure is disclosed. The method comprises obtaining a surgical instrument comprising an end effector, wherein the end effector comprises a first jaw and a second jaw, establishing a communication pathway between the surgical instrument and a surgical hub, and inserting the surgical instrument into a surgical site. The method further comprises compressing tissue between the first jaw and the second jaw, determining a location of the compressed tissue with respect to at least one of the first jaw and the second jaw, communicating the determined location of the compressed tissue to the surgical hub, and displaying the determined location of the compressed tissue on a visual feedback device.

  • Patent number: 11918212
Abstract: A surgical instrument including a surgical end effector and a threaded rotary input shaft. An actuator member is in operable engagement with the surgical end effector and is in selective threaded engagement with the threaded rotary input shaft such that when the actuator member is in an engaged configuration, rotation of said threaded rotary input shaft causes the actuator member to move axially to impart an actuation motion to the surgical end effector and when the actuator member is in a disengaged configuration, rotation of the threaded rotary input shaft will not be imparted to the actuator member. A switch may be employed for selectively moving the actuator between the engaged and disengaged configurations. A locking system may be employed for preventing axial movement of the actuator member when the actuator member is in the disengaged configuration.

  • Patent number: 6164503
Abstract: A screw-on closure for bottles that initially works with an induction seal liner and provides a leak resistant reseal on the bottle after the liner is removed. The closure has a unique annular convex sealing surface that overlies the mouth of the bottle. The sealing surface and the closure body area supporting it are sufficiently massive to withstand the heat generated in an induction liner sealing process and have a geometry that promotes a line contact with the mouth of the bottle to ensure a drip resistant reclose. A dispensing aperture of the cap is sealed by a hinged flap that has its sealing surface areas strategically located relative to the hinge to ensure repeated drip free opening and closing dispensing operation.

  • Patent number: 5383582
Abstract: A rotor-style sift-resistant dispensing closure of injection-molded thermoplastic having a base that provides a resilient seal on its dispensing hole and a rotor carried on the base in a position that compresses the seal for sealing effectiveness. The rotor is accurately maintained in a flat configuration by the base which retains the rotor both at its center and at its periphery and which stabilizes the rotor against distortion with upstanding supporting ribs situated between the center and periphery of the rotor.

  • Patent number: 4797666
Abstract: In a fluid flow supply system, monitoring a fluid supply system to accurately determine whether an abnormal flow condition or a catastrophic flow condition exists in such supply system. A parameter of fluid flow in the supply system is measured and a first signal is produced corresponding to such parameter. A first timer, adapted to be reset by the first signal, produces a signal upon expiration of a preselected time period. A second timer, adapted to be reset by the signal produced by the first timer, produces an output signal upon expiration of a preselected time period substantially greater in duration than the preselected time period of the first timer. Accordingly if the time period of the first timer is not exceeded (i.e., it is continuously reset by first signals measuring the fluid flow parameter), then the time period for the second timer will be exceeded whereby an abnormal flow condition is determined to exist.
