Abstract: Apparatus for a radio microphone enables hands-free operation of the microphone when it is attached to a user's shirt, jacket or other article of clothing, for example. The apparatus preferably comprises a cover which is attached to the microphone and includes an integral actuating lever that is positioned to be actuated by movement of a user's head or chin. Police, fire or other emergency personnel at the scene of an emergency can utilize the cover to keep their hands free for other tasks during operation of the microphone, and this also avoids the possibility that the user will contaminate the microphone by contacting it with their hands.
