  • Patent number: 6769180
Abstract: In a shaving implement having static and dynamic blades a shaving head includes an approximately rigid guard and a cap spaced away from and approximately parallel to the guard. The guard and cap each extending longitudinally of the shaving head. A static blade is secured to the shaving head and defines a cutting edge located between and approximately parallel to the guard and cap. The shaving head defines a cavity adjacent to the static blade and the cartridge adapted to be slidably received in the cavity includes at least one dynamic blade mounted therein. The dynamic blade is movable relative to the static blade during a shaving operation.

  • Publication number: 20040128835
Abstract: A blade cartridge for a wet shaving device comprises a housing including a lower housing member and an upper housing member cooperating to define a cavity. First and second blade assemblies are disposed within the cavity. Each of the first and second blade assemblies includes at least one blade defining a cutting edge, wherein the cutting edge of the blade of the first blade assembly generally faces the cutting edge of the blade of the second blade assembly to permit bidirectional shaving.

  • Patent number: 6655028
Abstract: A wet shaving device has a razor head carried by a handle and supports a disposable blade cartridge which has a plurality of blades. A guard/transfer roller supported for rotation on the razor head in advance of a lead blade provides a guard for the lead blade, forms a closure for a dispensing slot in the razor head, receives soap film from a wetted block of soap preparation disposed within the dispensing slot, and transfers soap film from the wetted block to and deposits it ahead of the lead blade and on the skin surface being shaved during a normal shaving process. A spring biased pusher disposed within the dispensing slot and which normally urges the block of soap preparation into engagement with the roller is manually withdrawn from the dispensing slot to facilitate replenishment of spent soap preparation.

  • Patent number: 6560881
Abstract: A shaving razor has a blade carrier, which may be part of a replaceable blade cartridge, pivotally supported by a main component or handle assembly, the main component and the blade carrier having cooperating convex and concave arcuate bearing surfaces whereby the carrier is movable about the pivot axis by sliding movement of the convex and concave bearing surfaces over one another, and a spring mechanism both holds the convex and concave bearing surfaces in engagement with one another and resiliently biases the carrier in one direction about the pivot axis toward a limit position.

  • Publication number: 20020157259
Abstract: A razor cartridge is provided that includes a frame, at least four razor blades, a guard that includes a contact surface, and a cap that includes a contact surface. The razor blades are supported by the frame. The guard is disposed forward of the razor blades and the cap is disposed aft of the razor blades. The razor blades are arranged so that the cutting edge of each razor blade is adjacent a plane that tangentially intersects the contact surfaces of the guard and the cap. As a result, each stroke of the razor exposes the surface being shaved to at least four razor blade cutting edges in succession. A unitary razor assembly that includes a head characterized in the same manner as the above-described cartridge is also provided.

  • Patent number: 6442850
Abstract: In a shaving razor using a blade cartridge, the reusable assembly of the razor includes a guard element and the blade cartridge is designed with no parts located in front of the blade edge or edges, and when the blade cartridge is installed in the reusable assembly, the guard element of the reusable assembly becomes located in front of the blade edge or edges of the blade cartridge to cooperate with the blade edges in a customary way to stretch the skin and erect the beard hairs in advance of the cutting edge. The blade cartridge is also movable about two different pivot axes to improve the safety of the razor during use.

  • Patent number: 6167625
Abstract: A shaving implement, such as a disposable cartridge or razor, comprises a shaving head which includes a skin-contacting element in the form of a series of cavities and projections. The projections are arranged in the cavities in order to provide a unique sensation to the user during shaving. The cavities are arranged so as to meter the amount of shaving cream which is on the surface being shaved.

  • Patent number: 5953824
Abstract: Razors adapted to support a razor head during shaving while permitting the razor head to move relative to the razor in response to forces encountered during shaving. Preferred embodiments allow a razor head to swivel and also to pivot about an axis normal to a central axis of the razor and normal to an imaginary axis defined by the points of attachment of the razor to a razor head. According to another aspect, an engagement arm comprises a novel slot for controlling the movement of the engagement during shaving, as well as during loading/unloading of a razor head. Embodiments of this invention enable the razor head to maintain optimum shave relation with the skin regardless of the angular differences between the cartridge head, razor handle/grip and shaving motion during shaving.
