I-beam shaped inserts positioned in front and rear channels of two end-to-end seat sections (or footboards), and conforming with channel shape, span the joint between the seat sections and extend endwise into each to maintain end-to-end alignment between the seat sections. Each insert is anchored in one or the other of the end-to-end seat sections and permits expansion and contraction displacement movement between the seat sections.
