  • Patent number: 10662854
Abstract: A sealing device for an exhaust manifold in a vehicle having longitudinally overlapping first and second components separated by a gap includes a plurality of backing rings for positioning in the gap between the first and second components. An intumescent mat is positioned between and abuts the backing rings. A retainer connected to the first and second components covers the gap to prevent the backing rings and mat from exiting the gap while allowing for relative longitudinal and rotational movement between the first and second components.

  • Publication number: 20130320252
Abstract: A flow control valve and method for controlling fluid flow includes a valve housing defining a valve chamber. A port member mounted within the valve chamber receives a reciprocally movable piston/spool assembly. The assembly is engageable with a valve seat for blocking fluid flow through the chamber. The assembly includes a piston body defining an annular recess for receiving an annular seal and a compression bonnet received by the piston body which is operatively engageable with the annular seal. When the assembly is not engaging its associated valve seat, the seal is relaxed and thus reciprocal movement between the assembly and the port member is not substantially hindered or resisted.

  • Publication number: 20130049381
Abstract: A fastener includes a housing, a piston movable within the housing, and a compression member positioned between the housing and the piston. The compression member is movable entirely into the housing to compress the compression member.

  • Publication number: 20120261890
Abstract: A pressure seal assembly for sealing a bonnet assembly that is removably received by an access port defined by a body portion of a high pressure control device. The seal assembly inhibits leakage between the body portion and the bonnet assembly and includes an annular graphite gasket having a tapered portion defining an angled surface engageable with a complementally-formed surface on the bonnet assembly. A first anti-extrusion ring is urged into sealing engagement with a surface defined by the access port. A pair of inner and outer anti-extrusion rings are urged into sealing contact with an access port surface and bonnet surface. The bonnet assembly includes a reduced diameter section which defines a seal assembly receiving cavity. The anti-extrusion rings include overlapped ends, which allow expansion and contraction while maintaining overlapping contact. Camming surfaces may include retaining segments which maintain the inner and outer extrusion rings in an assembled relation.

  • Publication number: 20040032134
Abstract: An anchor and hoist ring 10 is connected to an anchor assembly 12. The anchor and hoist ring has legs 20 that are integrally formed with the arms 18 of the ring and are canted upwardly and inwardly toward the bight section 16 of the ring 10. The ring is interlocked to the anchor assembly 12 via a swivel unit 50 that has bearing pockets 54 with bearing surfaces 54 that are complementarily sloped with the cant of the upper bight facing surface 64 of the leg to form a bearing surface thereto.

  • Publication number: 20030194287
Abstract: A clamp load indicating device (10) for fasteners is made from two flat washers (12) and a tubular crush element (18) mounted between the flat washers. A ring gauge member (14) is interposed between the washers and about the tubular crush element. The camp indicator device is mounted about the shaft (34) of a fastener and when sufficient clamp load is exerted thereon, the crush element crushes to allow the flat washers to engage with the ring gauge member and rotatably affix it with the washers.

  • Patent number: 5056967
Abstract: Disclosed is a spotweld removal tool adapted for removing spotwelds which join two or more layers of sheet metal to thereby free the sheet metal layers from one another. The spotweld removal tool comprises a split point twist drill having a central cutting tip (38) having leading edges (44 and 46) and defined by flared walls (56 and 58), recessed surfaces (64 and 66) adjoining the flared walls and peripheral cutting flats (40 and 42).

  • Patent number: 4889457
Abstract: A load indicator partly collapses under a predetermined compressive load to provide visual and tactile indications that such predetermined load has been reached or exceeded. The indicator has a longitudinal axis, opposite ends, an outer surface and a central cylindrical hole opening outwardly at the opposite ends. A circumferential groove in the outer surface intermediate the ends divides the indicator into first and second integral parts that move toward one another under a predetermined compressive load by collapsing the groove. A recess surrounds the hole at one end of the indicator so that the surface area of the one end is substantially smaller, and spaced outwardly further from the longitudinal axis, than the surface area of the other end.
