  • Patent number: 4762731
Abstract: Articles useful as RF-sealable packaging materials comprise a halopolymer barrier layer coated onto, or adhered to, a carbon monoxide-containing polymer, wherein the carbon monoxide-containing polymer provides RF-sealability to the structure. Other layers of materials may be employed as part of the packaging material.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 17, 1986
Date of Patent: August 9, 1988
    Assignee: The Dow Chemical Company
Inventors: Gerald M. Lancaster, David C. Kelley, Russell H. Cramm, Charles V. Neywick
  • Patent number: 4668743
Abstract: A process and the product made thereby are disclosed in the preferred form of this process, chlorinated polyethylene is first fluorinated ambient temperature for an interval of contact with elemental fluorine. Then, contact with a strong base converts the polymer into conjugated double bonds, reducing electrical resistance. The double bonds yield a surface layer able to controllably conduct electrical current.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 22, 1985
Date of Patent: May 26, 1987
    Assignee: The Dow Chemical Company
Inventors: Leo R. Novak, David C. Kelley, Philip Y. Lau
  • Patent number: 4660354
Abstract: Packaging containers which are closed, except for a pinch-type filling valve or filling-opening, are provided with an RF-sealable polymer, at least in the valve or opening, in order to be able to seal the valve or opening using RF frequency. Preferably, polymers which are sealable using MW energy are used, including, preferably, carbon monoxide-containing ethylene polymers.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 28, 1985
Date of Patent: April 28, 1987
    Assignee: The Dow Chemical Company
