  • Patent number: 9629653
Abstract: A catheter includes a catheter body defining first and second lumens, and a wire having first and second segments each with a greater stiffness, and a middle segment with a lesser stiffness. The wire is in an elastically deformed access state where the middle segment extends from an opening to the first lumen to an opening to the second lumen and forms a smaller loop. The wire is adjustable via sliding the first and second segments in opposed directions to an elastically deformed treatment state where the first segment extends from the opening to the first lumen to the opening to the second lumen and forms a larger loop.

  • Patent number: 9108026
Abstract: A spring action medical device includes a spring that may propel a hammer component in a distal direction when the spring is released from a loaded state. When propelled forward by the spring, the hammer component makes contact with a distal tip of the medical device. The distal tip may then transfer a force to an external object, such as an occlusion in a body lumen.

  • Patent number: 9011374
Abstract: A balloon catheter is provided with three lumens. The first lumen may be used as a guide wire lumen. The second lumen may be used as an inflation lumen. The third lumen may be used to provide various treatments to a vessel. Methods of using the balloon catheter to treat a patient are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20110137245
Abstract: A balloon catheter with a rod embedded within a catheter shaft is provided. The catheter shaft can have a polymer filled solid body with an inflation lumen and a guidewire lumen extending at least partially therethrough. A balloon member can be attached to a distal end of the shaft. The embedded rod is extended through at least a portion of the polymer filled solid body along the inflation and guidewire lumens. The rod is preferably in non-translatable contact with the shaft body. The rod can be disposed within the balloon region of the shaft to increase the tensile strength of that region. To increase pushability and tractability of the balloon catheter, the rod may include a first length with a diameter and a second length with a lesser diameter, with a tapered region interposed between the first and second lengths.

  • Patent number: 7766934
Abstract: An embolic protection device includes a basket defined by a section of a set of wires arranged as a plurality of struts. These struts are coupled together at their distal ends as well as to the distal end of a core wire or mandrel. Another section of the wires spirals around the core wire to define a hollow channel in which the core wire can reciprocate. Thus, pulling or pushing a proximal end of the core wire relative to the struts expands or contracts the basket. A filter bag is attached to the basket for capturing clots when the basket is in an expanded configuration.
