  • Publication number: 20240122585
Abstract: A core needle biopsy device includes a body, a needle assembly, a drive assembly, and a tissue sample holder. The body includes a housing defining a recess. The needle assembly includes a piercer and a hollow cutter. The piercer includes a sharp distal tip and a notch proximal to the distal tip. The piercer is slidably disposed within the cutter to sever a tissue sample into the notch of the piercer. The drive assembly is configured to selectively move the piercer and the cutter. The tissue sample holder is formed in the recess. The tissue sample holder has a removable cover, a driver, and a wiper. The cover is disposed over the recess. The housing and the cover together define a sample chamber. The driver is configured to move the wiper relative to a portion of the biopsy device to manipulate a severed tissue sample into the sample chamber.

  • Publication number: 20220249074
Abstract: A core needle biopsy device includes a needle assembly, a drive assembly, and a user interface. The user interface has a plurality of indicators. Each indicator of the plurality of indicators is configured to independently transition between a plurality of predetermined states to collectively define a plurality of predetermined status sequences that indicate movement of the piercer and the cutter via the drive mechanism.

  • Publication number: 20220249075
Abstract: A core needle biopsy device includes a needle assembly, a cutter drive assembly, a piercer drive assembly and an actuation mechanism. The needle assembly includes a piercer and a hollow cutter. The piercer includes a sharp distal tip and a notch proximal to the distal tip. The piercer is slidably disposed within the cutter to sever a tissue sample into the notch. The cutter drive assembly is configured to move the cutter. The piercer drive assembly is configured to move the piercer. The piercer drive assembly includes a lead screw configured to move both a portion of the cutter drive assembly and a portion of the piercer drive assembly. The actuation mechanism is configured to engage bot the cutter drive assembly and the piercer drive assembly to initiate firing of the piercer and the cutter sequentially using the cut drive assembly and the piercer drive assembly.

  • Publication number: 20220071732
Abstract: A marker delivery device includes a grip, a cannula, a push rod, and a marker element. The cannula extends distally from the grip. The push rod is configured to move within the cannula and includes a distal end with one or more seals configured to seal against an interior of the cannula. The marker element includes one or more barbs. The push rod is configured to generate a pressure within the cannula between the one or more seals and the marker element to eject the marker element from the cannula.

  • Publication number: 20210275156
Abstract: A biopsy device includes a probe, a needle, a cutter, and a manually actuated needle rotation assembly. The probe includes a probe housing. The needle extends from the probe. The cutter is disposed within the needle. The cutter defines a cutter lumen and at least partially defines a vent lumen between an exterior of the cutter and an interior of the needle. The needle rotation assembly includes a pinion shaft. A portion of the pinion shaft is exposed relative to the probe housing such that the pinion shaft is configured for actuation using a single hand while grasping the biopsy device with the single hand.

  • Patent number: 7140598
Abstract: A freefall-type windlass includes appropriate gearing for moving the windlass spool in a retrieve direction to wrap anchor cable thereabout or to permit the anchor to drop by gravity thereby unwrapping the anchor cable from the spool. A governor gear is incorporated into the windlass to restrict the rate at which the spool can rotate when the anchor is being paid out thereby avoiding entanglement of the anchor cable and malfunctioning of the windlass.
