  • Patent number: 5903951
Abstract: A molded brush segment having a plurality of integrally molded bristles extending from a generally planar center portion. The brush segment is molded from a moldable polymer such a thermoset polymer, thermoplastic polymer, or thermoplastic elastomer. The moldable polymer preferably includes a plurality of organic or inorganic abrasive particles interspersed throughout at least the bristles, and can be interspersed throughout the brush segment. The molded brush segments can be generally circular, with the bristles extending radially outward in the plane defined by the central portion. A plurality of brush segments can be combined to form a brush assembly. • Patent number: 5640772
Abstract: A cutting tool adapted to be reciprocated by a manually manipulated air hammer or similar device while being used to separate laminated materials. The cutting tool comprises a blade of thin resiliently flexible metal having a sharpened edge and an opposite driven edge, and an adapter comprising a blade holder portion which may include polymeric material permanently molded around a portion of the blade adjacent its driven edge, and a shank portion shaped for engagement by the air hammer attached to the blade holder that has an end shaped for engagement by the air hammer or similar device. The majority of or all of the adapter can be formed of the polymeric material to provide a low mass for the cutting tool and an average specific gravity for the adapter that is significantly less than the specific gravity of metal.

  • Patent number: 5400460
Abstract: An adhesive article for use in a microwave oven is provided having a hot-melt or heat-curable adhesive substrate, and a susceptor layer of electrically conductive or semi-conductive microwave absorbing material that is disposed on at least a portion of the substrate. The article becomes less absorbent of microwave radiation upon the melting or deformation of the substrate. This article is suitable for adhering one adherend to another by exposing said article containing a hot-melt adhesive substrate to microwave energy.

  • Patent number: 4844967
Abstract: A coated abrasive back up pad is disclosed that may be attached to different types of drive motor assemblies by a simple rearrangement of an adapter included in the back up pad. The back up pad may have passageways with offset portions in a foam layer of the pad positioned to communicate between openings in an abrasive disk attached to the back up pad and vacuum systems in various drive motor assemblies to which it may be attached. A novel method is disclosed for molding the back up pad to form such passageways which includes molding dies into the pad that can later be removed by compressing the foam layer so that the dies cut outlet openings through which they are then removed.

  • Patent number: 4569431
Abstract: A dual hand control actuation mechanism for a manually actuated device has a pair of opposed actuating rods that have wedge shaped ends defining forward and rearward camming surfaces to interact with forward and rearward cam surfaces on a cam member positioned between the actuating rods. If both of the actuating rods are pushed simultaneously, their forward cam surfaces engage the rearward cam surfaces of the cam member and move the cam member to cause it to engage a switch to actuate the device. If one of the actuating rods is pushed before the other, its forward camming surface engages the rearward camming surface on the cam member and pivots the cam member preventing the other actuating member from engaging the cam member in a manner that will move the cam member against the switch, thereby preventing actuation of the device.

  • Patent number: 4429455
Abstract: A machine for application of two-part electrical connectors to multiconductor flat cables has connector magazines for feeding connector bodies and covers to a pre-application station seriatim, and a connector pusher bar for moving a body and a cover from a pre-application station to an application station, one connector part above and one below a flat cable path through the application station. The upper connector part is supported and guided between a pair of plates, one of which has its lower edge inclined toward the opposing plate to provide support for the connector part between the plates, and the plates are resiliently movable apart to permit a platen to push the upper connector part past the inclined support edge and to press it into engagement with the flat cable and the other connector part to complete the application.
