  • Patent number: 8212148
Abstract: An article comprises a plurality of core tubes having coated thereon an insulating wall, a water-blocking layer, a conduit, and an outer jacket. The core tube comprises one or more conductors and is each surrounded by the insulating wall. The core tube can be wrapped with the insulating wall by any means known to one skilled in the art similar to electrical wire making. The insulating wall can be surrounded by the water-blocking layer. The role of the insulating wall is to protect the conductors from external mechanical damage, moisture penetration, and to provide electrical insulation. Such wall can comprise a continuous matrix, generally made of a polymer, optionally containing filler particles that may be inorganic.

  • Patent number: 7781506
Abstract: Disclosed are a composition, a process that can be used to produce the composition, and an article comprising or produced from the composition wherein the composition comprises or is produced from PVOH and a polyol ester plasticizer; the PVOH includes a PVOH homopolymer or copolymer; the polyol ester plasticizer includes an esterified polyol having one or more ester groups and at least one free hydroxyl group; and the process comprises combining PVOH with a polyol ester plasticizer under a condition sufficient to transesterify the poly(vinyl alcohol).

  • Patent number: 7659344
Abstract: Disclosed is a composition, which may be melt extrudable, comprising polyvinylpyrrolidone-iodine complex in at least one polymer. Also disclosed is a process for preparing the composition or shaped articles, including films, made therefrom. The composition can be extruded, blown film extruded, or molded into films, fibers, tubing, and shaped articles thermoformed or molded shapes, including containers, usable, for instance, as catheters, in delivery systems for drugs and nutrients, specimen containers, or surgical devices.
