  • Patent number: 7783154
Abstract: Video-editing workflow methods and apparatus thereof are disclosed. A user drops off (or send) to a merchant that provides video-processing services the analog or digital videotape. The videotape can be processed (digitized if necessary) into both a high-resolution and low-resolution video stream. The low-resolution video stream could be provided to a customer either in the form of a CD/DVD or accessible for download from the Internet. While at home on a personal computer or consumer video edition device, the user could perform the edits and cuts on the low-resolution video stream. The edits to the video stream, which are very small, can then be sent into the video processing service and re-rendered on the high-resolution video stream.

  • Patent number: 7382380
Abstract: A mechanism that allows an image object to maintain state information that provides on-demand rasterization of its content to meet the needs of a specific application or output device is described. A modified resultant proxy image is linked with its original content such that the ability to access the original content is preserved. In this way, on-demand rasterization is available at any time based on requirements of a specific application or a specific device. More particularly, an image processing command set formed into an edit list is associated with the modified resultant proxy image that links it to its original content.

  • Patent number: 7319536
Abstract: Automatically synchronizing any of a group of associated multimedia assets is described is described. A particular one of the set of distributed multimedia assets is modified and the others of the set of distributed multimedia assets are then synchronized based upon the modification. An update edit list corresponding to the modification is generated which is then automatically forwarded to the others of the set of distributed multimedia assets. The update edit list is then used to synchronize each of the distributed multimedia assets to the particular multimedia asset so modified.

  • Patent number: 7062107
Abstract: In one embodiment, in a peer-to-peer connected environment, a method of sharing a multi-media object between a first node and a second node is disclosed. At the first node, a digital negative of the multi-media object is stored, wherein the digital negative represents the multi-media object at a first resolution. The digital negative is modified to form a resultant image at a second resolution, an edit list based on the modifying is associated with the resultant image, the edit list is linked to the digital negative. At the second node, the resultant image is fetched at the second resolution, an output resolution of the resultant image is determined, the resultant image is converted to the determined output resolution, and the resultant image is output at the determined output resolution.

  • Patent number: 7042583
Abstract: A method apparatus and method for modifying a first multimedia asset to form a second multimedia asset where the first media asset is derivable solely from the second media asset. A multimedia processing command is applied to the first multimedia asset to form the second multimedia asset. The first multimedia asset is then uniquely linked to the second multimedia asset using the multimedia processing command such that the first multimedia asset is derivable solely from the second multimedia asset.

  • Patent number: 7012621
Abstract: A method of rendering a low-resolution thumbnail image at an embedded imaging device is described. An original digital negative is captured at the embedded imaging device at an original resolution and a thumbnail digital image of the original digital negative is generated at a first resolution. The thumbnail digital image is displayed on a display device coupled to the embedded imaging device and modified to form a first resultant image at the first resolution. A first edit list based upon the modifying is generated and associated with the first resultant image and linked to the original digital negative. The linked first edit list, the original digital negative, and the first resultant image are stored at the embedded imaging device and displayed at the display device.

  • Patent number: 6904185
Abstract: In a distributed network, a method of recursively linking a multiply modified multimedia asset to an original digital negative of the multimedia asset is disclosed. The original digital negative of the multimedia asset is modified to form a first resultant multimedia asset based upon which a first edit list is generated. The first edit list, in turn, is associated with the first resultant multimedia asset and linked to the original digital negative of the multimedia asset. The first multimedia asset is then modified to form a second resultant multimedia asset based upon which a second edit list is generated. The second edit list is associated with the second resultant multimedia asset and linked to the first resultant multimedia asset.

  • Patent number: 6850248
Abstract: A method of generating a composited digital image at a first resolution having a link to a digital negative at an original resolution is disclosed. The digital negative is operated upon based upon a first edit list to form the composited digital image at the original resolution which is then rasterized to form the composited digital image at the first resolution. A second edit list based upon the rasterizing is then generated and the first and second edit lists are then associated with to the composited digital image at the first resolution and linked to the digital negative.

  • Patent number: 6788812
Abstract: By automatically compensating for unwanted lighting effects caused by varying ambient light sources, digital still images and video are made to appear more naturally realistic. A set of correction factors based upon an ascertained ambient lighting conditions, such as color temperature, provides for selectively color correcting only those pixels requiring correction. In this way, only those portions of a digital image having excessive color due to ambient light conditions are improved without affecting those portions of the digital image not requiring correction.

  • Patent number: 6577311
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method of providing a recipient of a low-resolution digital image a way to automatically obtain a high-resolution rendering of the digital image is disclosed. In one embodiment, in a distributed system having a first node coupled to a second node, a method of outputting at the first node a composited digital image at a selected resolution is disclosed. At the second node, the composited digital image at a first resolution is generated and the composited digital image is then converted to a second resolution. The converted composited digital image is then transferred to the first node where the selected resolution is determined. If the selected resolution is the first resolution then the composited digital image is fetched and the composited digital image is then output at the first resolution. If, however, it is determined that the selected resolution is the second resolution, then the composited digital image is output at the at the second resolution.
