  • Patent number: 7345676
Abstract: An electronic device has a touch sensitive surface (14) for entering text. The text is stored in memory (20) in a vector graphics format, preferably without carrying out character recognition.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: March 18, 2008
    Assignee: Koninklijke Philips Electrnics N.V.
Inventors: Leonard H. Poll, David C. Yule
  • Publication number: 20030191818
Abstract: A communications system comprises a beacon (10) storing a portion of available data (20) and having access to all of the available data over a first network (60). The beacon (10) is arranged to communicate with a client terminal (30) over a second network (35, 40) to supply data from said stored portion (20) of available data. The client terminal (30) has access to all of the available data (70) over a third network (80, 90). Upon a request by the client terminal (30) for data of the available data not within the stored portion (20), a network is selected from the first network (30) and the third network (80, 90) in dependence on one or more predetermined criteria, the requested data being accessed over the selected network.

  • Publication number: 20020002705
Abstract: A computer profile update system comprises an update control computer (30) arranged to communicate with a user computer (10), a profile being held in a memory (15) which is associated with the user computer (10) and/or with the user. The update control computer (30) is configured to communicate suggested profile updates to the user computer (10) and, if the suggested profile updates are accepted, corresponding updates are made to the profile in the memory (15).

  • Patent number: 5218226
Abstract: A semiconductor body (100) has a first device region (20) of one conductivity type forming with a second device region (13) of the opposite conductivity type provided adjacent one major surface (11) of the semiconductor body (100) a first pn junction (40) which is reverse-biassed in at least one mode of operation. A floating further region (50) of the opposite conductivity type is provided within the first device region (20) remote from the major surfaces (11 and 12) of the semiconductor body (100) and spaced from the second device region (13) so that, in the one mode, the depletion region of the first pn junction (40) reaches the floating further region (50) before the first pn junction (40) breaks down.
