  • Publication number: 20130283112
Abstract: Techniques are described for detecting faults in media content based on the behavior of users viewing the media content. Embodiments stream a first instance of media content to one or more users. The behavior of the one or more users is monitored while the users are viewing the streaming first instance of media content. Embodiments then determine whether the first instance of media content is faulty, based on the monitored behavior of the one or more users.

  • Patent number: 8534860
Abstract: The present invention is a display light box comprising several compartments with partitioning walls shaped according to a translucent image on a frontal display panel. The compartments are illuminated by LEDs, which are installed a distance away from the picture panel to accomplish uniformity of the light on the panel, and driven by a controller so the LEDs may be turned on and off in any pre-determined sequence, accomplishing a changing presentation and thereby making the light box more attractive. The intensity of each compartment may be designed to be different, by the number of LEDs installed in the compartment or by the number of LEDs turned on at any given moment. In addition, LEDs in the same compartment may be turned on and off in certain pattern, accomplishing additional artistic impression.

  • Patent number: 8511724
Abstract: An improved window sash latch which has a locking mechanism and a keeper is provided with a handle that rotates from a “locked” to an “unlocked” position. An inner cavity of the handle has a spring assembly having a sliding part that can be forced into a detent as the handle slides around a cylindrical extension of an outer surface of the latch. The detents correspond to a “locked” and an “unlocked” position of the latch. The latch also provides two cams where both cams revolve relative to each other; one cam is activated by the handle through the handle's shaft, the other cam engages the keeper, and both cams engage each other.

  • Publication number: 20130155945
Abstract: Systems and techniques for delivering timing over packet (ToP) data over a wireless hop. Timing information is synchronized between a master and a slave node of a wireless hop When a ToP packet arrives at the master node, an arrival time of the packet at an ingress point of the master node is noted and stored as a timestamp. The packet is transmitted over a wireless link to the slave node. The packet makes its way to an egress point of the slave node, and the residence time of the packet in the wireless link is calculated and stored. The residence time of the packet is the time between the packet's arrival at the ingress point of the master and the egress point of the slave. The packet is then transmitted out the egress point of the slave.

  • Publication number: 20130159498
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for representing a user quality of experience (QoE) experienced by users of a streaming media service using a single QoE metric. The single QoE metric may be determined based on a set of empirical characteristics relating to the streaming video service such as startup latency, video quality, and the likelihood of interruptions in streaming playback. The empirical characteristics may be weighted according to how much one factor influences user quality of experience, relative to the others. Representing the QoE as a single metric may allow a streaming media service provider to improve key business measures such as subscriber retention and engagement.

  • Publication number: 20130139193
Abstract: A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, receiving reaction information from one or more sensors located at a second location that is representative of a reaction by a second user at the second location to the presentation of the personalized content, analyzing the reaction information to determine a response based at least in part on trait information associated with different first users, selecting a second portion of the recorded segments based on a comparison of the determined response with a context identified for each of received recorded segments, and adjusting personalized content to include the selected second portion of the recorded segments. Other embodiments are disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20130093198
Abstract: A latch is adapted to accommodate its installation into any one of several sash window frames, having different cross-sectional frame arrangements and setback distances. The latch includes a housing, spring and latch bolt. The housing includes a top plate, a side wall, and a bottom wall, which form a cavity, with the latch bolt being slidably received therein. The spring biasing the latch bolt to protrude out from a housing opening. The bottom wall includes a contoured peripheral opening configured to form a first flexible platform and a second flexible platform, each having one or more tabs thereon, formed by first and second surfaces converging to form an apex. The first surface of each tab accommodates latch installation for varying sash window frame set-back distances, with the second surface being configured to cause the platform to deflect into said cavity when being engaged during the installation into the sash frame.

  • Patent number: 8411702
Abstract: Methods and systems for a more efficient transmission of network traffic are provided. According to one embodiment, a method is provided for performing transport layer protocol segmentation offloading. Multiple buffer descriptors are stored in a system memory of a network device. The buffer descriptors contain information indicative of a starting address of a payload buffer stored in a user memory space of the system memory. The payload buffers contain payload data originated by a user process running on a host processor of the network device. The payload data is retrieved from the payload buffers on behalf of a network processor of the network device without copying the payload data from the user memory space to a kernel memory space of the system memory by performing direct virtual memory addressing of the user memory space. Finally, the payload data is segmented across one or more transport layer protocol packets.

  • Patent number: 8360484
Abstract: A vent stop is installed into a window/door to limit travel therein of a sash member, and being particularly adapted to permit ease of its installation, especially into a wooden door/window. The stop incorporates multiple retention features to inhibit the stop's removal, once properly installed. The retention features include a wedge-shaped protrusion located at a distal end of the stop housing, which engages the wood of the window opening when pivotally installed therein, to secure a first end of the stop. The opposite end of the stop may be redundantly secured. A first feature for securing the opposite end may comprise one or more arcuate flanges on housing side walls, flanges being adapted to unidirectional movement so as to permit its movement relative to the window opening during installation, but thereafter deterring counter-pivotal motion that would allow removal of the vent stop. A second feature comprises a deformable spring clip.
