  • Patent number: 9124323
Abstract: A method for calibrating signal transmission equipment. The equipment includes at least two signal transmission subsystems, a first subsystem implementing a first signal transmission technology and a second subsystem implementing a second signal transmission technology. The method includes transmitting, by the first subsystem, a signal at a predetermined transmission power; measuring, by the second subsystem, an amount of noise perceived on at least one channel associated with the second subsystem; and recording, in a data structure, the amount of noise for the at least one associated channel.

  • Publication number: 20080214225
Abstract: The invention relates to a cellular radio system wherein a communication terminal receives servo power instruction from a base station with which a radio communication comprising first uplink and downlink channels is established. In response to an instruction for changing a channel (13), the terminal records a first power level received from the base station and a reference power on which the terminal transmitted when the instruction was received. The terminal endeavours to continue communication on new uplink and downlink channels interrupting the transmission on the first uplink channel. If failed, the terminal evaluates a second power level received from the base station and restarts to transmit through the first uplink channel at a power determined according to the reference power and a variation between the first and second power level.

  • Patent number: 7376429
Abstract: The method makes it possible to locate a radio terminal able to communicate with a plurality of radio base stations associated with respective cells under the supervision of at least one radio network controller receiving data intended for locating the terminal, at least one of the cells comprising predetermined cell portions. The base station associated with this cell comprises means for estimating a cell portion where the radio terminal is situated and for focussing signals for communications with the radio terminal selectively in this estimated radio cell portion. The method comprises steps of transmitting from the base station associated with the cell to the radio network controller at least one parameter intended for the locating of the terminal and relating to the estimated cell portion, and locating the radio terminal as a function of at least this parameter relating to the estimated cell portion.

  • Publication number: 20070165600
Abstract: The invention relates to terminals which can communicate through a second sub-system (3G), but not a first sub-system (2,5G) of a telecommunication system, using first and second modes of communication simultaneously. For such a terminal (1) with a current communication with the first sub-system using the first communication mode, a request for establishment of a second communication using the second communication mode for said terminal is made, said request being made by said terminal to the first sub-system, in reply to the detection of said request, a transfer of the first current communication to the second sub-system is initiated and a second communication established with the second sub-system using the second mode of communication.

  • Publication number: 20020106032
Abstract: The sender includes a first source of M-ary symbols and a second source of M′-ary symbols, with M′>M>1, for example M=2, M′=8. The frames delivered by one of the sources are interleaved into successive blocks each including symbols obtained from at least two frames. Each block gives rise to a burst of modulated signal produced either by a first modulator of M-ary symbols or by a second modulator of M′-ary symbols. In response to a change of the active source, certain M-ary symbols originating from the first source are converted into M′-ary symbols to produce at least one block of M′-ary symbols submitted to the second modulator and including both symbols from at least one frame delivered by the second source and symbols obtained by conversion of M-ary symbols from at least one frame delivered by the first source.
