  • Patent number: 7150340
Abstract: A hub drive includes an in-hub motor and a shifting in-hub transmission coupled with the motor. A hub drive wheel assembly includes a wheel comprising a hub, an in-hub motor, and a shifting in-hub transmission having an input attached to the motor and an output attached to the wheel. A vehicle includes a chassis, a wheel comprising a hub, an in-hub motor, and a shifting in-hub transmission having an input attached to the motor and an output attached to the wheel for rotating the wheel with respect to the chassis. A method includes providing a shifting transmission and a motor coupled with the transmission in a hub of a wheel, providing electrical power to the motor, and rotating the motor with the electrical power. The method further includes rotating the transmission with the motor and rotating the wheel with the transmission.

  • Publication number: 20050145428
Abstract: An articulated vehicle suspension system shoulder joint is disclosed. A vehicle includes a plurality of wheel assemblies; a plurality of rotating shoulder joints, each wheel assembly being mounted to a respective one of the shoulder joints and rotatable in a plane by the respective shoulder joint; and a chassis to which the shoulder joints are mounted. The shoulder joint for use in a vehicle suspension system includes a housing to which a wheel assembly may be attached for in-plane rotation; a drive; and a transmission engaged with the housing and the drive to reduce the speed of the drive motor as it drives the housing.

  • Patent number: 4340362
Abstract: A portable space heater having a deep fuel tank in conjunction with a fuel pump for raising the fuel to a predetermined height to feed an aspirating type nozzle incorporated in the fuel system and an adjusting valve means to control the flow of fuel to the siphon line connected to the nozzle. The fuel pump feeds the fuel from the tank to a predetermined level at which the aspirating nozzle will operate efficiently. The fuel line system also has a return line to the tank which allows any excess fuel in the lines to be appropriately returned to the tank.
