Publication number: 20240269664Abstract: A pipetting head for a liquid dispensing apparatus is provided. The pipetting head has a pipette tip connection mechanism and a plunger clamping mechanism having a plurality of mounts for holding the plungers of the array of pipettes during use, a plurality of clamping rods, each extending inside one of the mounts, and a clamping drive mechanism operable to drive relative movement between the mounts and the clamping rods to selectively engage the clamping mechanism. The mounts each have a radially extending feature configured to form one half of a snap-fit connection. The clamping region of each of the clamping rods is axially adjacent to the radially extending feature of its associated mount when in a clamping position, and is axially offset from the radially extending feature of its associated mount when in the release position. The clamping rod prevents the snap-fit connection with the plunger from being released when in the clamping position.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 10, 2022Publication date: August 15, 2024Inventors: David GLEDHILL, Reuben PARDOE, Robert LEWIS, David COCHRANE

Publication number: 20240269665Abstract: A pipetting head for a liquid dispensing apparatus is provided. The pipetting head has a pipette tip clamping mechanism and a plunger clamping mechanism. The pipette tip clamping mechanism and the plunger clamping mechanism each include a mounting plate having a plurality of mounts, a clamping plate having a plurality of clamping members each associated with one of the mounts, and a drive mechanism comprising an actuator operable to drive relative movement between the clamping plate and the mounting plate in an axial direction to selectively engage the clamping mechanism. The pipetting head further includes a drive actuator operable to move the plunger clamping mechanism in the axial direction towards or away from the plates of the pipette tip clamping mechanism to aspirate or dispense liquid during use. The drive actuator is configured to operate independently of the pipette tip clamping drive mechanism and the plunger clamping drive mechanism.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 10, 2022Publication date: August 15, 2024Inventors: David GLEDHILL, Reuben PARDOE, Robert LEWIS, David COCHRANE

Patent number: 11349792Abstract: A method for identifying one or more unauthorised routes used for the termination of application-to-person (A2P) short message service (SMS) messages to a mobile telecommunications network, and a system for use in performing the method. An application service is stimulated to generate an A2P SMS message, and to send it to a collection point. The message is processed to obtain an identifier identifying a source of the message, and it is determined whether the identifier corresponds to an authorised source of A2P traffic to the network.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 2016Date of Patent: May 31, 2022Assignee: SINCH SWEDEN ABInventors: Peter Neal, Owen Mark Davies, Richard David Cochrane Dodds

Patent number: 6287154Abstract: An electrical device (20), in particular an energy regulator or infinite switch, comprises a body portion (22) with one or more electrical elements (33, D, B, C, 47) mounted thereto. The body portion (22) and the electrical element(s) (33, D, B, C, 47) mounted thereto define an assembly having a minimum dimension which is termed the “thickness” of the assembly. At least one terminal (25, 57, 58, 59, 60, 61, 63) is also mounted to the body portion. The terminal has a mounting portion (27) and a contact portion (26) with the mounting portion (27) extending transversely to the thickness dimension to thereby result in a low-profile electrical device.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 1999Date of Patent: September 11, 2001Assignee: Invensys, plcInventors: Andrew Joseph Palmer, Mark Ronald Graves, Ian David Cochrane

Patent number: 4077735Abstract: In cutting tools employing disposable inserts an indexing shoulder is generally provided on the body of the tool. When exposed to excessive force the shoulder may be damaged and the tool difficult to repair. This invention proposes a replaceable seat which is indexed to the tool, and wherein the seat is provided with an shoulder against which the insert is indexed. In the preferred embodiment the insert is provided with a transverse channel in its seating surface and the seal with a mating land. The arrangement provides for forward and reverse indexing of the insert, and is of particular utility in positive rake and tracer cutting tools.Type: GrantFiled: October 14, 1976Date of Patent: March 7, 1978Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: David Cochrane Dick, Fred Bauer
