  • Publication number: 20030033376
Abstract: The invention presents a system and a method for assisting automation control module (ACM) customers to retrieve information relevant to their specific ACM(s). A service-portal ACM combines a conventional ACM with a service portal and/or a general-purpose computer to facilitate locating relevant information by the customers. The service-portal ACM comprises a first central processing unit (CPU), and a first memory operably connected to the first CPU. A second CPU is operably connected to the first CPU, and a second memory is operably connected to the second CPU for storing a service-portal database containing a first set of service-portal data and one or more links to a second set of service-portal data stored in a remote network server. A first network interface is operably connected to the second CPU and to a gateway configured for enabling the second CPU to communicate with the remote network server.

  • Patent number: 6394795
Abstract: An air heating burner having improved CO emissions across a broad range of heat inputs. The burner incorporates wings which cover portions of mixing plates associated with low to medium-low fire. The wings reduce air flow velocity to eliminate quenching during such conditions, thereby increasing combustion temperature and reducing CO emissions. The wings also form pre-heat chambers which further increase combustion temperature. The burner produces a substantially consistent level of CO emissions across the range of inputs, regardless of the pressure drop across the burner.

  • Publication number: 20020052987
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and circuit for prefetching direct memory access descriptors from memory of a computer system, and storing the prefetched direct memory access descriptors within a unified descriptor memory for subsequent access by direct memory access controllers. The descriptors are generated by a central processing unit of the computer system while executing software applications. The descriptors define data transfer operations between memory of the computer system and input/output devices via direct memory access controllers. The direct memory access controllers generate requests for descriptors. Upon generation of a request, the unified descriptor memory is checked to determine whether the requested descriptor is contained therein. If the requested descriptor is contained within the unified descriptor memory, the request descriptor is provided to the requesting direct memory access controller.

  • Patent number: 6099822
Abstract: Disclosed is a composition of matter useful in imaging tissue, the composition comprising a complex formed between technetium (Tc-99m) and 5-thio-D-glucose. Also disclosed is a method of in vivo imaging of acute ischemic tissue and tumors in a mammalian subject comprising delivering into the subject an effective amount of (Tc-99m)-5-thio-D-glucose, and scanning the subject to determine the distribution of the Tc-99m-TG complex in the subject. A method of preparing the composition of matter is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6048196
Abstract: A self-grounding igniter for an industrial burner that is more durable and less fragile, by virtue of the insulating jacket being relatively short and limited to the tip end of the igniter. The burner has a final inlet, an air inlet, a housing and a burner nozzle inside the housing. The igniter comprises a metal rod having a discharge electrode at one end and a mount and connector at the other end. The connector is adapted to be electrically coupled to a power source. An insulating jacket circumscribes a top end segment of the metal rod in proximity to the discharge electrode. A ground electrode metal sleeve is mounted to the outside of the insulating jacket in fixed proximity to the discharge electrode, thereby forming a spark gap having a fixed distance. This configuration provides an exposed metal surface on the rod between the insulating jacket and the mount. The exposed metal surface has a length substantially corresponding to the distance between the housing and the burner nozzle.

  • Patent number: 6014783
Abstract: A cushion having multiple pneumatic cells extending upward from a common impermeable base is directly attached to a flat rigid base which is fixedly attached to each of three subframes of a convalescent recliner. Male and female snap fasteners are suggested. The direct attachment of the cushion to the flat rigid base disposes the bottom of the common impermeable base flush with the top of the flat rigid base. Upper attachment elements are located upon the bottom of the common impermeable base which mate with lower attachment elements located upon the top of the flat rigid base. Both upper and lower attachment elements are located in a single fixed configuration. An absorbent elastic cover fits over the cushion, is readily removable, and has a hem which fits about the periphery of the bottom of the cushion, outside of the fixed configuration of upper fastening elements. An ischemic preventive support cushion which will not shift as a result of inclination is provided.

  • Patent number: 5555853
Abstract: A lightweight back-pack generator set having a spark-ignited engine operating on middle distillate fuels (e.g., JP-5, JP-8 and F-34) has been provided. The generator set includes a back-pack frame; an alternator; and a spark-ignited combustion engine adapted to operate on a middle distillate fuel. The engine uses a preheater for heating the intake manifold to facilitate start-up operation of the engine. The present invention also provides a simple and inexpensive method for converting a spark-ignited gasoline engine to operate on a middle distillate fuel for providing a lightweight engine suitable for driving an alternator, a portable generator, or other portable equipment.

  • Patent number: 5452018
Abstract: A digital color correction system and method for correcting a color video signal representing a portion of a colored optical image by modifying the entire color space of each of the complementary colors which make up the color signal so that all objects which contain each color are modified at once. A correction means produces an output video signal having a plurality of complementary color components, each of which is related to a corresponding color component of the color video signal by a transfer function, and a modification means for independently modifying each of the transfer functions is provided. The entire color space for each color may be modified, or only selected portions of it. Thus, only objects falling within a desired range of the color space may be selectively modified.
