Abstract: A method of remotely activating a combination of mobile device functions using a network application includes receiving, using the network application at a server, a client command from a client computer and sending an instruction to activate a combination of mobile device functions on the mobile device based on the client command. The method further includes receiving, at the server, information from the mobile device based on the activated combination of mobile device functions and sending client information to the client computer based on the received information from the mobile device.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for distributing content items to a handheld device using a personal computer. A user can browse and select content using a personal computer or other computer that may be more readily available or more convenient to use than the handheld device. The personal computer can communicate with a web server which receives the user's request for content to be distributed to the handheld device. The web server can retrieve configuration information pertaining to the handheld device and communicate with a content server to determine whether the user's request for content distribution is valid based on information identifying the handheld device and at least some of the configuration information pertaining to the handheld device. The content server can transmit the requested content item to the handheld device if the user's request is valid and if the handheld device is able to receive the content item.

Abstract: An electronic auction system known as the Yahoo! Auction System provides functionality that permits users to conduct auction transactions with various payment units, such as incentive points and credit points, as well as money. Points can be earned in a variety of ways and redeemed via online auctions. The Yahoo! Auction System includes a web server, a messaging server, a database server, and various databases including an account database for storing information about account balance, expiration date for each point or group of points, and redemption information. The Yahoo! Auction System provides different auction formats, such as Standard Auction, Dutch Auction, Progressive Auction, Buy-or-Bid Auction, and Declining Bid Auction. The Yahoo! Auction System reserves the bid amount associated any new valid bid in the bidder's account and unreserves those bid amounts that were previously reserved but are no longer the winning bid or otherwise displaced from the top bid positions.

Abstract: A valve arrangement for an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The valve arrangement may have a housing at least partially defining a venturi passageway, a first port disposed at an entrance to the venturi passageway, and a second port disposed at a throat of the venturi passageway. The valve arrangement may further have a valve element disposed within the housing to regulate the flow of fluid through the housing, and a sensor mounted to the housing in communication with the first and second ports. The valve arrangement may also have a controller mounted to the housing in communication with the sensor. The controller may be configured to affect movement of the valve element in response to input from the sensor.
