The plate is cut using a trimming head of the trimming station and inspected at the trimming station. The controller stores instructions that, when executed by a processor, causes the system to form a plate.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for storing a cryogenic material, such as liquid hydrogen is described. The apparatus includes a liquid hydrogen storage container with a structural support system that enables frequent loading and unloading of the structural support system. The structural support system enables loading and unloading without permanent deformation or fatigue of the structural support system. The structural support system includes a plurality of support members which are oriented at an angle tangent to a portion of an inner shell, which forms a cavity holding the cryogenic material. The portion of the inner shell which the support member is tangent to is the portion of the inner shell closest to an end of the support member.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for storing liquid gases, such as liquid hydrogen, is provided. The liquid gas container includes multiple layers of insulation to enable non-vacuum insulation to be utilized while reducing cryopumping. An inner insulation layer is formed of a material which as a closed-cell structure and is thick enough such that the temperature at an outer surface of the inner insulation layer is greater than the boiling point of a gas within the outer insulation layer. The outer insulation layer may have an open-cell structure for the insulation material.

    Abstract: A heat exchanger assembly including an elongated tubular heat exchanger enclosure defining an interior chamber. A tube sheet is positioned within the interior chamber of the heat exchanger enclosure separating the interior chamber into a shell side and a channel side. The interior portion is configured to removably receive a tube bundle positioned within the shell side of the interior chamber. An annular sleeve member is positioned within the channel side of the interior chamber of the heat exchanger enclosure. An annular elastic torsion member is positioned within the channel side of the interior chamber of the heat exchanger such that the sleeve member is positioned between the tube sheet and the elastic torsion member. The elastic torsion member has an inner circumference deflectable relative to its outer circumference for torsioning the elastic torsion member.
