  • Patent number: 6837923
Abstract: A low viscosity silicone glycol surfactant together with glycerin is added to a polytetrafluoroethylene dispersion for use with an electroless nickel plating bath. The improved plating bath produces a stable PTFE dispersion that continues to work as the plating bath ages and that produces an electroless nickel deposit with greater than 20 percent by volume of PTFE in the deposit.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 7, 2003
Date of Patent: January 4, 2005
    Inventors: David Crotty, Jon Bengston

  • Patent number: 6562221
Abstract: A composition and process for electroplating tin or tin alloys onto a substrate at relatively high current densities. The electrolyte comprises toluene sulfonic acid and a source of ammonium ions and/or magnesium ions. The process is particularly suited to high speed reel to reel or strip steel plating.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 28, 2001
Date of Patent: May 13, 2003

  • Publication number: 20020172776
Abstract: Corrosion of metal surfaces, particularly aluminum or aluminum alloy surfaces, is inhibited by contacting the metal surfaces with a solution comprising a mercapto-substituted silane and then preferably baking the metal to cure the silane coating. Multifunctional organo-mercapto-substituted silanes are preferred in the practice of the process. Preferably, the treatment solution is an aqueous mixture of the mercapto-substituted silane and selected solvents.
    Type: Application
    Filed: March 8, 2001
    Publication date: November 21, 2002
Inventors: David Crotty, Justin Girard, Tarek Nahlawi

  • Patent number: 6391177
Abstract: An electrodialytic cell and process for its use in regenerating electroless plating solutions, particularly nickel-hypophosphite electroless plating solutions, are disclosed. The process is capable of operating at high temperatures and in a continuous fashion such that the plating operation is not interrupted and the steady state condition in the plating bath is achieved.
