Patent number: 10450111Abstract: The current invention provides a container, a lid, a combination of the two, and a method of using the same. The container has a base and a sidewall extending upward from the base forming a continuous sidewall around the base. The upper portion of the sidewall has a rim and a skirt around the perimeter. The skirt has a removable tear tab to allow access to a lid for removing the lid from the container. The lid also has vents for air to exit the container, thereby preventing rising of the lid in low pressure areas. The vents further prevent entry of air into the container when the sealed container is taken to areas of higher pressure. A method of filling the container leaving an air gap between the product and the lid and utilizing the aforementioned vents is also provided.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 2016Date of Patent: October 22, 2019Assignee: Wells Enterprises, Inc.Inventors: David D. Albrecht, Kaye D. Van Genderen

Publication number: 20170096274Abstract: A container having venting means and a method for sealing a lid to the container without damaging or weakening the container are disclosed. The container, such as a cup, includes venting means in the interior surface of the container side wall generally adjacent a lid seal to allow air that would otherwise be forced into and become trapped in the container when the lid is sealed to the lid seal to vent from the container to prevent weakening of, damage to or ultimate failure of the container.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 10, 2016Publication date: April 6, 2017Inventors: David D. Patent number: 8006863Abstract: The present invention is a square-shaped product container having a bail pivotally attached to an upper portion of opposite corners of the container. A mating lid for the container is formed which mates with a top portion of the container and has a tab which extends outward and downward from a sealing lip on the lid. The tab on the lid and the bail on the container work in conjunction when a user pulls downward on the bail and upward on the tab to easily pull the tab corner of the lid upward away from the container. Then, the remaining portion of the lid sealed to the container easily follows with forces upward on the lid and downward on the bail.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 2007Date of Patent: August 30, 2011Assignee: Wells Enterprises, Inc.Inventor: David D.
