  • Fluid collection apparatus for a surgical device

    Abstract: A fluid collection apparatus is provided for controlling fluid communication between a vacuum source and first and second vacuum lines of a surgical device such as a core sampling biopsy device. The fluid collection apparatus comprises first and second fluid lines adapted for detachably connecting to, and in fluid communication with, the first and second vacuum lines, respectively, of the surgical device. The fluid collection apparatus further comprises first and second valves in fluid communication with first and second fluid lines, respectively. Each of first and second valves has an open position and a closed position. The fluid collection apparatus further comprises an air vent selectively communicating with first and second vacuum lines, and a valve frame for fixing first and second valves relative to each other, where the valve frame has a latching means for detachably connecting the valve frame to the surgical device.
